🦴 Preventative Physical Therapy 💪
Preventative physical therapy focuses on identifying movement restrictions, muscle imbalances, and weakness before they turn into chronic pain or injury.

🚶‍♀️ Improved Mobility
Targeted mobility training improves joint durability, connective tissue health, and movement efficiency. When your body moves well, muscles don’t have to compensate or work outside their limits—reducing injury risk and improving control during everyday tasks.

🧍‍♂️ Better Posture & Body Mechanics
Poor posture and faulty movement patterns can lead to headaches, back pain, sprains, and strains. Physical therapy emphasizes proper alignment and mechanics—whether you’re exercising, working, or simply standing up from a chair.

⚖️ Fall Prevention & Balance Training
Falls are a leading cause of injury, especially in older adults. Physical therapy improves balance, strength, and confidence while addressing the sensory, vestibular, and visual systems that help keep you upright and steady.

🏃‍♀️ Sports & Activity Injury Prevention
Whether you’re a competitive athlete or a weekend warrior, repetitive stress and overuse can lead to injury. Prehab targets high-risk areas specific to your sport or activity, teaching proper form while improving strength, flexibility, and recovery.

❤️ Managing Chronic Conditions & Healthy Aging
Physical therapy allows individuals with health conditions or physical limitations to exercise safely while improving overall fitness. Staying strong and active helps combat age-related weakness, improves independence, and supports long-term health.

📚 Education & Awareness
Preventative PT isn’t just exercise—it’s education. Our therapists guide patients on safe movement, lifestyle habits, and strategies to reduce injury risk and stay active for years to come.

🦴 SI Joint Pain: What You Should Know

If you’ve been dealing with one-sided low back, hip, or buttock pain, your sacroiliac (SI) joint may be part of the problem. The SI joints connect the base of your spine to your pelvis and play a big role in stability and shock absorption during everyday movements like 🚶‍♀️ walking, 🧍 standing, 🏋️ lifting, and ⬆️ climbing stairs.

While these joints don’t move much, even small changes in how they function can create significant discomfort.

⚠️ SI joint pain can develop when the joint becomes irritated, stiff, or overly mobile.
Common contributors include:
• 🚗 Falls or accidents
• 🔁 Repetitive stress from lifting or running
• 🦴 Arthritis or inflammation
• ⚖️ Leg length or alignment differences
• 🤰 Pregnancy or post-partum changes due to joint laxity

🧠 Why proper assessment matters
SI joint pain can closely mimic sciatica or disc-related back pain. Imaging like X-rays or MRIs doesn’t always clearly identify SI joint dysfunction, which is why diagnosis is based on a skilled physical therapy evaluation. This includes posture and movement analysis, hands-on assessment, and specific clinical tests to determine if the SI joint is truly contributing to symptoms.

💪 How physical therapy helps
Once identified, treatment focuses on the root cause—whether the joint needs more stability or more mobility. Care may include:
✔️ Core & glute strengthening
✔️ Pelvic stabilization
✔️ Targeted mobility work
✔️ Manual therapy
✔️ Education on posture, lifting, and flare-up prevention

Many people experience meaningful relief and improved function with conservative physical therapy care.

✨ Don’t ignore the signals your body is giving you.
Early intervention can make a big difference—and with the right plan, movement can feel more comfortable and confident again.

What Is a Total Joint Replacement—and How Can Physical Therapy Help?

If joint pain has slowly taken over your daily life, you’re not alone. While exercises, injections, and other treatments can help for a time, there are cases when joint damage progresses to the point that surgery becomes the best option.

Total joint replacement is a surgical procedure where a damaged, arthritic joint is removed and replaced with a prosthetic joint made of metal, plastic, or ceramic—designed to restore movement and reduce pain.

✔️ Knee and hip replacements are the most common
✔️ Nearly 800,000 knee and 450,000 hip replacements are performed each year in the U.S.
✔️ Shoulder, ankle, elbow, and wrist replacements are also options for some patients

PT BEFORE surgery matters more than you think

Most people are surprised to learn that physical therapy before surgery (prehab) can be just as important as therapy after surgery.

Think of surgery like a marathon—the better prepared your body is beforehand, the better your recovery afterward.

🟦 Benefits of prehab include:
• Improved strength and mobility before surgery
• Better pain control and function after surgery
• Reduced need for inpatient rehab or skilled nursing care
• Faster return home and smoother recovery

📊 Studies show patients who completed prehab were 29% less likely to need post-acute care and had less pain and better function for months after surgery.

What to expect after joint replacement

Physical therapy begins quickly—often the same day or next day after surgery.

Your PT will help you:
• Sit up, stand, and begin walking safely
• Improve joint range of motion and strength
• Navigate daily tasks with walkers or canes
• Manage pain and swelling
• Progress toward balance, confidence, and independence

The ultimate goal?
✨ Getting you back to real life—grocery shopping, walking comfortably, and enjoying the activities joint pain once limited.

“It’ll go away.”
We’ve all said it… about that nagging back twinge or stiff shoulder.
But what if waiting is actually making things worse?

At Recover Physical Therapy, we see it every day:
➡️ Small aches turn into chronic pain
➡️ Minor movement issues become bigger limitations
➡️ Recovery takes longer (and costs more) than it had to

💡 Here’s the truth: Early physical therapy can make a huge difference.

When care is delayed:
• Injuries can progress into chronic pain or joint degeneration
• Muscle imbalances and poor movement patterns become harder to fix
• The likelihood of injections, medications, or even surgery increases
• Time away from work and daily life adds up
• Healthcare costs rise with imaging, referrals, and extended rehab.

Can early PT help avoid surgery?
While PT isn’t the answer for every condition, research shows that early, conservative treatment can be just as effective as surgery for many common diagnoses—especially when issues are addressed before they escalate.

Physical therapy focuses on:
✔️ Restoring strength and mobility
✔️ Addressing the root cause (not just symptoms)
✔️ Reducing stress on joints and tissues
✔️ Supporting better outcomes—even if surgery is eventually needed

Preventative physical therapy helps you:
• Move better and with less pain
• Improve posture and daily movement habits
• Stay strong, active, and independent
• Catch small problems before they become big ones

Consider scheduling an appointment if you notice:
• Pain or stiffness lasting more than a few days
• Discomfort that keeps coming back
• Loss of mobility, balance, or strength
• An injury from work, sports, or a fall

Don’t wait to feel better

Early physical therapy isn’t just about fixing what hurts—it’s about protecting your future movement and quality of life.

Ask yourself:
How long am I willing to wait to feel like myself again?

💥 Shoulder pain slowing you down? Hearing clicking or grinding when you move your arm?
That stiffness might be shoulder arthritis — and the good news is, you don’t have to just “live with it.” 🙌

At Recover Physical Therapy, we help patients every day manage shoulder arthritis, improve mobility, and get back to doing the things they love 💪

🦴 What’s going on in the shoulder?
The two most common types of shoulder arthritis we see are:
• Osteoarthritis – wear-and-tear over time as joint cartilage thins
• Rheumatoid arthritis – an inflammatory autoimmune condition affecting the joint lining

Both can cause pain, stiffness, and limited motion — but both respond really well to physical therapy.

✨ How physical therapy helps:
✔️ Gentle, hands-on manual therapy to reduce stiffness and pain
✔️ Targeted strengthening to support and stabilize the shoulder joint
✔️ Mobility work to improve range of motion
✔️ Non-invasive pain relief strategies to help you move comfortably
✔️ Personalized home exercise programs to reduce flare-ups

Movement is medicine — and our therapists are movement experts 🧠➡️🏃‍♀️
We meet you where you are and build a plan that keeps you active without overdoing it.
