💚 Joy is an act of resistance.

In a world that asks us to absorb endless grief and anger, choosing to feel joy—even in small ways—is a radical act. It's not about ignoring what's happening. It's about refusing to let oppression convince you that you're not allowed to feel alive.

When you're living through continuous loss and systemic pain, micro joys become medicine. They're the moments that tell your nervous system: "You matter."

A flower blooming. Your child's laughter. A moment of stillness. The warmth of sun on your skin. These aren't escapes, they're the fuel that keeps you moving forward with presence and purpose.

Your joy doesn't diminish the work of healing or justice. It sustains it. It keeps you grounded in your body, connected to what's real and good, and able to show up for yourself and others.

The holidays are approaching, and with them comes a whirlwind of emotions. For many, this season can feel bittersweet as busy schedules, stressful family dynamics, and reminders of loss or painful memories often show up alongside moments of joy.

As women (and so often, as the “magic makers” of the season), we carry much of the invisible weight of making the holidays special for others. This year, we invite you to reclaim a bit of that magic for yourself. 🎁

Our Holiday Empowerment Group offers a therapeutic space for women to honor both the highs and the lows of the season. Together, we’ll use creative expression, therapeutic support, and intentional practices to manage stress, and rediscover moments of joy this holiday season. 🤍

Take a mindful rest with me 🎨

One of my favorite ways to reset is mindfully painting…just a stone, some paper, and gentle curiosity.

I let the stone guide my pen without control, then fill in the spaces with watercolor (or crayon, marker, etc). No planning, just presence.

Even a few quiet minutes can invite calm, especially for those of us learning to loosen our grip on doing it “just right”.

If any todo list reminders pop up in my head, I jot them down and return to my painting, practicing bringing my attention and intention back to the present moment.

May this gentle practice help you find your way back to the present moment, too. 🌿
