Always giving credit where credit is due—and in this case, it’s truly no surprise. šŸ’›

We don’t do a lot of transfers, but when we do, the way a family is received matters so much. On Thursday, we cared one of our moms who experienced a premature rupture of membranes—her water broke and remained broken for a significant amount of time without active labor, despite all of our efforts to encourage things along. After thoughtful discussion, we made the decision to transfer, and as usual, we chose Baptist Hospital.

From the very first phone call, the transition felt easeful and respectful. Giving report, talking through our patient’s story—never once did I feel dismissed, judged, or ā€œless than.ā€ The nurses, the scrub tech, and the OB team were all incredible. Dr. Bakker was warm, kind, and non-judgmental during our phone conversations, and that tone carried straight through to the bedside.

These kinds of transfers are encouraging for our team—but even more importantly, they are necessary and deeply reassuring for the mother being transferred. The best part is when that warm welcome extends to honoring patient choices while still taking excellent care of mom and preparing to welcome a new little life.

Thank you, Baptist Hospital, for consistently being a place of collaboration, respect, and outstanding care. Hands down, the best. šŸ’™

šŸ’— Wild Rose presents our Galentine’s Swap šŸ’—

A swap is simple and so sweet: you bring what you no longer need and take what you do. That might look like maternity clothes, women’s clothing, baby or toddler items, postpartum goodies, and some even bigger helpful items.

But it’s more than swapping things—it’s about community. A chance to mingle, connect with other moms, sip something yummy, and let your littles play while you get a moment to just be.

✨ We’re also still accepting donations for our baby-wearing lending library, breast pump library, and diapers of all sizes to pass along to families in need.

Calling all the girlies ✨
On Friday, February 13th, Wild Rose will be hosting our second clothing swap, and this one is extra sweet with a Valentine’s / Galentine’s twist.
Think:

✨ January Babies at Wild Rose ✨

In January, the Wild Rose team had the incredible honor of welcoming three sweet new little babes into the world, each with a story as unique and beautiful as the families who love them.

🌿 Baby Eden
Eden’s parents transferred into care with us around 34 weeks, confident and well-informed first-time parents who knew the birth they desired was possible in an out-of-hospital setting. From the moment we met them, they were ready. About six weeks later, Baby Eden was born peacefully in the water with a stunning view of the bayou. Her mama worked with such strength, dad never leaving her side, surrounded by a loving birth team that included a wonderful doula. A truly calm and sacred welcome earthside.

🌊 Baby Hudson
Next came Baby Hudson—born right on his guess date (his mama clearly knows how to keep a schedule šŸ˜‰). With a beautiful worship playlist filling the space, Hudson was welcomed peacefully in the water, surrounded by his dad, grandma, Midwives Meagan and Sheradia, and his mama’s best friend who also served as her doula. A birth full of intention, love, and reverence.

šŸ¤ Baby Solomon (Baby Sully)
Last, but certainly not least, sweet Baby Sully. This was Midwife Meg’s second journey with this family, and it was sacred from beginning to end—pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. This family knew the experience and the vibes they wanted, and together we made it happen. Midwife Meg arrived to check in, and shortly after, Sully made his way earthside with a mighty roar from his mama as dad waited with eager hands to catch his baby boy. After birth, Midwife Meg grabbed two excited big siblings so they could finally meet their baby, and during postpartum, dad (a nurse practitioner) proudly stepped in, stethoscope out, ready to take over his postpartum duties.

We are endlessly thankful to have walked alongside these families. Thank you for trusting us—not only during birth, but as we continue the journey through postpartum.
Midwifery care is deeply holistic and beautifully tailored to each family, and we are so honored to grow alongside the families we serve. 🌹

✨ Welcome, little ones. You are so loved. ✨
