Think About It Thursday! Our brains were working hard trying to come up with words from a few fall themed phrases including: Happy Thanksgiving, Harvest Festival and Pumpkin Spice Season.

We enjoyed Happy Hour this afternoon with a special treat! Yesterday, Mary, Bernice and Hazel made Sweet & Salty Harvest Hash and decided to share it with friends! It was a hit and many residents have asked for a copy of the recipe! In case you'd also like to try it, here's the directions for you as well! Let us know if you make some!

Ingredients
1 box of Chex Mix

1 bag of Bugles

1 bag of Reese’s Pieces

1 bag of candy corn or Autumn mix

1 cup roasted and salted peanuts

1/2 cup salted butter

2 cups brown sugar

1 cup corn syrup

1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Directions
-Preheat oven to 250 degrees F. Line two cookie sheets with parchment paper or get a large roasting pan out!
-In a large bowl or the roasting pan, combine the Chex, Bugles and peanuts. Mix together.
-In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the butter, brown sugar and corn syrup. Boil until it reaches the soft-ball stage on a candy thermometer.
-Remove from the heat and add the vanilla extract in.
-Pour the butter and sugar mixture over the Crispix mix and stir thoroughly.
-Once fully mixed, transfer to the two large sheet pans lined with parchment paper. If you are mixing everything together in a roasting pan, it is good to go in the oven like that!
-Place in the oven for 1 hour, stirring halfway through.
-Remove from the oven and let the mix cool. Give it a stir every 15 minutes or so, otherwise, it will all harden together as it cools!
-Once the mix has cooled, sprinkle the Reese’s pieces and candy corn in.

*This mix will keep fresh for about 2 weeks in an airtight container.

The hallways were filled with kids dressed in costumes and residents with smiling faces as they passed out candy. A night of trick or treating and fun was a success!

No need to worry about the weather and safety of your kids, just walk through the front doors and start filling your bags or buckets! The residents are excited to see the kids and pass out candy!

Wear It Pink 2025 is an annual event that invites people to wear pink clothing or accessories to show their support for breast cancer awareness and research. This vibrant and positive campaign aims to raise awareness about breast cancer, encourage early detection, and raise funds for breast cancer research and support services.

Today, many of our residents and staff wore shades of pink to show our support breast cancer awareness 🩷
