🩸 March is DVT Awareness Month 🩸
Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) is a serious condition where a blood clot forms in a deep vein, most often in the legs. DVT can be silent, but when symptoms appear, they may include; leg swelling, pain, warmth, redness, or heaviness.
Why awareness matters:
⚠️ A clot can break free and travel to the lungs, causing a pulmonary embolism (PE), which can be life-threatening.
⚠️ Risk factors include recent surgery, long travel or sitting, hormone therapy, pregnancy, cancer, prior clots, and certain vein conditions.
What you can do:
✔️ Know the symptoms
✔️ Move regularly and stay hydrated
✔️ Wear compression if recommended
✔️ Seek medical evaluation if something doesn’t feel right
Early detection saves lives. If you or someone you love has symptoms or risk factors, don’t ignore them- get checked.
💙 Awareness is prevention.
