Illinois Valley Baseball Academy Our goal is to positively impact and develop players of all ages from the Illinois Valley. Hi, my name is Jake Sale.

My goal is to help baseball players of all ages in the Illinois Valley become better at the game of baseball. I began doing pitching lessons in the summer of 2017 in the Illinois Valley. For some background information on me, I pitched collegiately at Parkland College (Junior College) and continued on to pitch at Illinois State University (Division 1).

Our 3 month offseason throwing/arm care program wrapped up last week. The goal is to have our athletes have a full understanding of what it means to have a pre throwing routine, a structured throwing program, and a post throwing/arm care routine. Additionally we work on overall movement and being an athlete. Structure and holding them to a certain standard/expectation is at the forefront of what we do.

The graphics show year over year progress for our athletes that participated in last year's and this year's program and train with us throughout the year.

We test and track a variety of throws including seated throws, one knee throws, pulldowns, and throws from the mound/positional throws.

High school average increase per throw:
Seated - 5.5 MPH
One knee - 6.7 MPH
Pulldowns - 9.5 MPH
Mound/Positional - 6.8 MPH

Grades 5-8 average increase per throw:
Seated - 4.6 MPH
One knee - 5.7 MPH
Pulldown - 10.0 MPH
Mound - 7.4 MPH

Congratulations to Putnam County Senior Johnathon Stunkel on his commitment to play at Illinois Central College the next two years. Johnathon was an All-State selection last year after a dominant season on the mound and at the plate. Our 22nd athlete to play at the next level 🔥
