I keep this in my bag and as I was looking for my headphones I saw a glimpse of it and had to grab it. It's textured and calming and made instantly follow instructions and brreatheee.

Mental health isn't a trend for me. It's an everyday struggle. Days like today when I wanted to drink so bad this morning that I poured cranberry ginger ale in a wine glass and pretended until the need to go away subsided. Weeks like this one when a long fought battle even when victorious just feels EXHAUSTING. And yet here I am. Back on Satan's septa off to work to keep the dream alive.

Whether this reaches 1 person, 100 or 1000, my real audience is the one person that forgot to breathe, like me and this picture reminded you.

JUST BREATHE!

This is one of those days that already feels like i want to tap out and it just started. But its also moments like this that put the tools and skills from therapy and the learning and regulating part of the journey. I was in therapy for almost 2 yrs faithfully so I should know wat to do right.
1. Cancel all unnecessary assignments, appointments, etc. Today is wat needs to be done only. AND DONT FEEL GUILTY FOR IT

2. Prepare tea or coffee that smells good and tastes good and let the warmth remind u ur actually ok.

3. Remember to drink water bc it helps regulate ur system.

4. Put on music or a podcast that makes you feel like you. Whatever you you pick quirky, weird, funny, introspective. As long as its not that depressed bitch we keep trying to stuff in a cage.
(This will be hard today bc my boss doesnt like music so I'm going to have to hum to myself)

5. Cry when you need to f**k ppl

6. BREATHE... TODAY WILL PASS AND YOU WILL FEEL BETTER EVENTUALLY

7. LAST BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT... I LOVE YOU AND EVERYTHING YOUVE BECOME AND IM REMINDING YOU TODAY YOU DONT NEED ANYONE ELSE TO SAY THAT OR FEEL IT BUT YOU!

(small side note... no cussing ppl out or causing unnecessary arguments bc ur sensitive... mind ur triggers today ur ghost pepper spicy today)

I should've took a Pic of how sweaty I was afterwards. Probably no more hot yoga for me but still so happy I showed up for me!

Summer 1995: Ten-year-old Joan, her mother, and her younger sister flee her father’s explosive temper and seek refuge at her mother’s ancestral home in Memphis. This is not the first time violence has altered the course of the family’s trajectory. Half a century earlier, Joan’s grandfather built this majestic house in the historic Black neighborhood of Douglass—only to be lynched days after becoming the first Black detective in the city. Joan tries to settle into her new life, but family secrets cast a longer shadow than any of them expected.

As she grows up, Joan finds relief in her artwork, painting portraits of the community in Memphis. One of her subjects is their enigmatic neighbor Miss Dawn, who claims to know something about curses, and whose stories about the past help Joan see how her passion, imagination, and relentless hope are, in fact, the continuation of a long matrilineal tradition.

If anyone is interested in my book club, please let me know by commenting yes to this post. I'm going to start in February and the theme will be black history, woman and gender conformity and the general state of wtf that the world is in.

I have a few suggestions but for this first month I want each person to choose a book that represents those topics best to them and then February 28 I will do a meeting for us to discuss our choices and pick a new book.

I'm excited...
