MTCC April Offerings 🌱🥭 - Unlearning Shame, Reclaiming Desire -

As we close out March, I find myself sitting in reflection—aware of the tension that seems to be pulsing both nationally and globally. There is a certain tightening many of us feel: in our bodies, in our communities, and in the uncertainty of what lies ahead. And yet, in the midst of that tension,...

To be part of the diaspora is to hold many worlds at once.
At Mango Tree, we understand the push and pull of identity, family, culture, and belonging—because we’ve lived it too. Our clinicians combine lived experience with clinical expertise to create a space that can hold cultural dynamics, unspoken expectations, and the very real challenges of your day-to-day life.
This is therapy that sees the full picture.

✨ SMART Recovery at Mango Tree ✨

Recovery isn’t one-size-fits-all—and it doesn’t have to be done alone. Our weekly SMART Recovery group offers a supportive, nonjudgmental space to explore change using evidence-based tools grounded in CBT and ACT. Together, we focus on building healthier patterns, aligning with your values, and making choices that feel sustainable for you.

This is a BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and allies-affirming space that honors the reality that recovery is shaped by culture, identity, and lived experience. Your story matters here.

Hustle culture will have you thinking burnout is a badge of honor.
It’s not—it’s your nervous system asking for relief.

Constant productivity can disconnect you from your body, your needs, and your sense of self.
Rest isn’t laziness. Slowing down isn’t failure.

You don’t have to earn your worth through exhaustion.

Grateful to be in community ✨
We had the chance to attend powerful events, facilitate workshops, share words, and connect at community programming hosted by and - spaces that continue to cultivate connection, storytelling, and collective care across the diaspora. At a time when community feels more important than ever, these gatherings remind us that we are not alone.
Special shoutout to our Mango Tree clinicians and students who showed up, represented, and continue to do this work with heart and intention 🌱

Community & Belonging Focus
Eid Mubarak to our Muslim community 🌙
Today marks a celebration of resilience, devotion, and community.
We honor the ways you’ve shown up for yourselves and others during Ramadan—and we recognize that healing, like faith, is a practice.
Whether you are celebrating with loved ones or navigating this day with mixed emotions, you belong here.
With care,
Mango Tree Counseling & Consulting ❤️

Our next session is on desire, intimacy, and erotic selfhood. This psychotherapy group is a space to heal and expand your relationship with sexuality—exploring patterns like compulsive behavior, avoidance, fe**sh, or the pursuit of intensity over intimacy. Through a culturally informed, trauma-responsive lens, we’ll examine the roots of erotic templates, deconstruct shame, and build greater capacity for healthy, connected, and values-aligned sexual expression.

📅 When: 2nd Sunday of every month, 2:30 PM EST via Zoom
🌏 Who: Open to AANHPI-identified individuals, current clients and new clients (new patients complete onboarding first)
🔗 Register: Link in bio or visit www.mangotreecc.com

Join us as we continue our journey into identity, relationships, and generational healing—all year long, one session at a time.

True North – Module 2
Exploring S*xual & Relational Recovery in the Diaspora. Tired of the apps… but can’t stop opening them?
What starts as curiosity or connection can become a cycle:
emotion → swipe → dopamine → chase → crash → repeat.
Over time, it can feel less like desire…
and more like disconnection.
Less like choice…
and more like compulsion.
This isn’t about shame.
It’s about getting curious.
Chronic use of hook up apps can sometimes reflect deeper patterns:
• loneliness or unmet attachment needs
• avoidance of vulnerability
• trauma, rejection, or internalized shame
• the search for affirmation in a system designed to keep you swiping
And for many in the diaspora, it intersects with race, desirability, identity, and belonging.
