Disordered eating doesn’t happen in a vacuum.
It lives in histories of colonization and deprivation, in bodies shaped by migration, survival, celebration, and shame.
For many in the diaspora, food carries meaning far beyond nourishment—
love and loss, control and scarcity, pride and punishment.
This True North Psychotherapy Group: Diaspora Resilience & Recovery centers the unique intersections of:
• minority stress
• racial identity development
• body image and belonging
• intergenerational survival strategies
Together, we create space to name these histories, understand their impact, and build gentler, more grounded relationships with our bodies.

For many of us, “coping” has meant overworking, emotional numbness, secrecy, purging, suppression of desire, perfectionism, or swallowing our hurt.

True North invites AANHPI and intersectional communities to explore how everyday mental health challenges are shaped by history, migration, family systems, and the need to belong.

Each month, Dr. Ramirez will offer education, ACT-based tools, and recovery-oriented frameworks to help us untangle generational wounds, unhealthy soothing, and the habits that keep us disconnected — while honoring our resilience and our roots.
