A question I get often is “Why on earth would you want to do death work!?”

This is why: Throughout my mother’s illness and death in 2016, she had difficulty accepting outside help. My mom often felt that she was being treated like a child, and that the emotional component of dying was overlooked. After being by her side through this experience, I realized that I had a deep calling to become the caregiver my mom had been searching for. It is important to me to relieve fear, anxiety, and confusion, so that those I serve can focus on what is really important- peace of mind and time with one another. I operate from a place of warmth and sensitivity, while still keeping alive a sense of humor and love of life. The dying process is a painful one, but can also be filled with reflection, discoveries, and immense personal growth for everyone involved.

It’s my favorite month of the year! Flowers bloom without anxiety around their short lives, just enjoying the time they get in the sun and rain (at least, I think so). Trees have rested through the winter and now have the energy to once again grow their leaves, and the deer are back at their favor...
