Say hello to our office dog, Buffy, and forever Employee of the Month! Buffy is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier and an unforgettable part of the SVI experience.

From greeting patients with her gentle tail wags to sitting beside us during busy days, Buffy has a natural gift for making everyone feel relaxed and welcome.

She’s proudly certified through the AKC Canine Partners Program and holds her Canine Good Citizen title. Whether she’s curled up in Dr. Shafer’s office or making her rounds, Buffy brings so much love to our office. 🐾❤️

Say hello to Dr. Shafer the heart of Shafer Vision Institute. He’s known for his compassion, precision, and unwavering dedication to his patients.

What makes Dr. Shafer stand out isn’t just his skill in the operating room, it’s the way he cares. From the moment he walks into the room, he creates a personal connection. He listens closely, dives into your goals, and works meticulously to get you the results you deserve. His patients know one thing for sure and that is he always shows up for you, every step of the way.

Dr. Shafer grew up right here in Montgomery County and went to Upper Dublin High School. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Rochester and went on to earn top honors at Temple University School of Medicine, including Alpha Omega Alpha and the Gold Humanism Honor Society. After serving as Chief Resident at UPenn’s Scheie Eye Institute, he completed an advanced fellowship at Vance Thompson Vision, one of the nation’s top surgical training programs.

After returning home, Dr. Shafer practiced in Malvern, where he quickly became the region’s leading implanter of premium lenses and the only surgeon in Chester County performing advanced corneal transplants and cataract surgery revisions. Known for his availability and patient-focused care, he opened Shafer Vision Institute to bring university level expertise to a warm, accessible private practice setting.

✨Meet the team Monday✨
Say hello to Dr. McManamon (affectionately known as Dr. Pat), our incredible optometrist at SVI. He is dedicated to delivering the highest quality care with kindness, compassion, and patience. After completing his residency in Cornea & Contact Lenses at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (now Salus at Drexel University), he spent eight years as the Director of Dry Eye and Specialty Contact Lenses at one of the busiest ophthalmology practices in Southeastern PA.

The only thing bigger than his height (almost 6’6”!) is his heart. He loves connecting with patients and if you get him talking about skiing, hiking, biking, his dog, or his wife Alison and their adorable baby Rose, you’re in for a great story. 💙

His cataract co-management expertise made him Pennsylvania’s first optometrist to perform Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) adjustments.

At Shafer Vision Institute, Dr. Pat works closely with Dr. Shafer to ensure every patient receives exceptional, personalized care.

As one of the friendly voices our patients hear, Christa brings warmth, patience, and positivity to every call. She helps set the tone for an exceptional experience before patients even walk through our doors.

Christa is dedicated to uplifting others, supporting mental health, and creating a welcoming environment for both patients and our team. 💙

Outside of work, she enjoys photography, meditation, traveling, music, and exploring new languages. She is always looking for new ways to connect, learn, and grow.

Sahar has a true appreciation for eyes and the uniqueness they hold, which makes her role here especially meaningful. She loves connecting with patients, answering questions, and helping them feel comfortable throughout their care journey.

Outside of the office, Sahar enjoys spending time outdoors, exploring nature, and being with her loved ones.💙

Say hello to Ashley our beautiful, new marketing coordinator coming to an office near you. We are always so impressed by her dedication and hard work on every project. Her positive attitude really brightens the workplace and makes coming to work a pleasure. We appreciate her kind heart and the positive impact she has on our team.

Ashley first met Dr. Shafer when she came with her mom for a follow-up appointment after eye surgery. Ashley was so impressed with Dr. Shafer and his staff that she knew this was a team that she would love to be a part of and we are so happy to have her.

With a background in real estate and a passion for connecting with people, Ashley loves helping share SVI’s mission.
