“I want a natural birth” is often how my clients answer when I ask them why they are seeking doula services. Great! Here are some sentences we will explore in a prenatal session:

▪️Relax your jaw.
▪️Take one contraction at a time.
▪️Breathe as slow and deep as you can.
▪️Horse lips
▪️It’s more a mental game than anything else.
▪️It’s a marathon, not a sprint.
▪️Expect that you will be in labor a lot long than you think.

❗️Spoiler Alert: You don’t need a natural birth plan to benefit from having a doula ❗️

❤️Welcome earthside, Vaeda Grace!❤️ Born on November 29th at 6:03pm. Weighing 6lbs 8oz & 19.5 inches.

On Vaeda’s EDD mom had a chiropractic adjustment and acupuncture to get labor moving along. These techniques worked just as they should, as early labor arrived later that night.

Mom had a long early labor over two days. She stayed busy with walks, her birth ball, naps and shopping. Dad was great helping mom manage discomfort of back labor with pressure points and massage.

Mom labored at home for several hours after active labor began. She used the heating pad and birth ball between contractions, and slow danced with dad throughout. The shower was mom’s greatest tool, when it came to getting relief through contractions.

After arriving at the hospital mom continued movement. Walking and again slow dancing with dad to work through contractions. She switched to the peanut ball in a squatting position, and leaned back against dad who was in a chair supporting her. This allowed for further dilation as baby descended down.

Mom pushed for 28 minutes, before reaching down to greet Vaeda and bring her to her chest. Dad was there for every push, offering words of encouragement and love each step of the way.

Mom’s intuition of her own body and what baby needed, allowed for informed and calm decisions. The courage, strength and resilience of mom led her and dad to meeting their rainbow baby! Look at the admiration in this picture!

I have officially entered the 'on call' period of my last birth for 2021! A great time to tell you more about what the on call period looks like, which is included in all birth packages.

*On call is considered two week before & two weeks after your EDD (Estimated Due Date).
*During this time I will check in via text with mom, to see how she is feeling, if she has experienced changes or has any questions or concerns.
*Mom and partner/birth support person may reach out to me via text or phone, as often as they need during this period.
*I will provide and encourage mom and partner/birth support person to begin to prepare for labor and delivery with small to do lists leading up to birth.
*Most importantly, I like to make sure mom is resting, hydrating, feeling in a good place emotionally/mentally, moving, getting on her birth ball and supporting baby to get into a great position for birth.

The on call time, looks different for each mom based on her needs, which is the best part about hiring a doula. We are here to support you in having the birth you desire to achieve!

Welcome earth side, Isla Lillian.❤️
Born on September 22nd at 11:35am.

It was a true honor to watch mom and dad welcome their first baby together.

Mom labored at home for about 3 hours. She used her breathing and meditative thoughts to work through labor and contractions once she arrived at the hospital. Mom was able to be on the birth ball and slow dance with dad to encourage Isla to descend lower. And once back in bed the peanut ball to assist with opening her pelvis. Dad provided hip squeezes and pressure points to give some relief for back labor.

Mom remained grounded and in tune with her body, she instinctually knew what was next and made decisions with informed care. Mom and dad were together for pushing, and felt empowered by their birth plan that was created in prenatal sessions.

Mom expressed feeling “so happy” with how her labor and birthing went. And that is truly the goal of every doula. That when baby arrives, mom feels satisfied and whole in her birth story!
