This Infiniti was a big job.
The owner of this car tried to use "Shiny Car Stuff" wipe on clear coat to bring some life back into the paint. It failed, and left the surface hazy and water spotted. The "Shiny Car Stuff" is a very durable product, but looks terrible, so we had to wet sand this entire car to remove it, and keep sanding until all of the high spots where it had permanently cured were removed. The first video shows a test spot, where you can see all of the high spots that are left behind from the Shiny Car Stuffs uneven application
Then after wet sanding each panel with 2000 and 3000 grit, it was ready to be buffed to remove the sanding marks, and polished to restore the finish to brand new. This will be the LAST and only correction for this paint, a paint correction this aggressive is not for the faint of heart.
I love wet sanding extremely scratched and swirled paint, there is so much tactile feedback from the sandpaper through your hands, you can literally feel when the scratches are removed. You can also feel when enough is enough. And as soon as the texture of the paint starts to flatten, that's about the most you want to go. Alas, an even and flat paint job is much better than a thick and textured one. The client will probably not live to see the clear coat fail unless the paint is severely abused from here on out, even though there is barely any left.
Thanks to this client for entrusting me and letting us far exceed the original quote I had given before seeing the damage in person.
Please be sure to watch the after videos, I have about 16 hours in this car!
