Hi, my name is Enos and I’m looking for a devoted family to call my own.
It’s absolutely mandatory that my new family be willing to pet my head and play fetch.
I like to go for walks but if I see a squirrel, I quickly forget my leash manners. More frequent walks and some tasty treats should help me to learn how to work through this but I need a family to help me do that. I know some basic commands but I often find it more fun to completely ignore the human. I think they mentioned something about selective hearing, but I wasn’t really listening.
I learned a new trick in my foster home. There’s a bell to ring when I have to go potty, and I’m happy to bonk it with my nose when I want to go out..to p*e, to listen to the birds chirping, to see what the neighbors are up to, and even just to let some fresh air into my nostrils. It’s really fun to watch how quickly the humans come running when I ring the bell!
A Note from Enos’ Foster Family: For the first 2 and a half years of his life, Enos was not allowed in the house and had to live in a crate in the garage. Now that he’s part of the household, he’s still learning how to resist helping himself to the things he desires, especially food on the table/counters, and his favorite thing of all – tissues/paper! Left to his own devices for too long, Enos will easily find trouble, but with a human by his side, he is fully satisfied to just sit next to you and be loved on. This is definitely your typical knuckle-headed, velcro Dober boy. Despite his size, this boy is incredibly well mannered with children and seems to really enjoy their company. He will however steal their food, so he will need continued work on self-control. Enos has not had a lot of exposure with other dogs but has done very well with those who are calm. He needs a little time to warm up to dogs that are very pushy or rambunctious, as they easily intimidate him.
Enos is up to date on required vaccines, has had a full physical exam with blood work, is heartworm negative, neutered, and ready for adoption. He did come into rescue with a severe foot infection. While it has improved dramatically, we are still working to fully heal his feet so his adopters will need to continue with any required treatments.
If you are interested in adopting Enos, you must live within 3 hours of Bangor, PA and be willing to commit to the adoption process. This includes filling out an adoption application to include veterinary and personal references, participating in a telephone interview, and complying with a home visit. This is all completed PRIOR to meeting with a dog. Additionally, we are unable to field phone calls until your telephone interview. Any questions prior to then can be sent via email to info@doberinc.com and will be addressed as soon as possible. As a rescue committed to finding the most suitable home for each dog, we do NOT operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Applicants must understand that after a lengthy adoption screening process, another family may be deemed more suitable for this dog. Approved adopters must complete an adoption contract and pay the adoption fee in order to finalize the process. The adoption fee for Enos is $250 payable to DOBER, Inc.
