In case you were wondering ….
✔️The way you feed your baby is your choice
✔️How you soothe your baby does not require you to explain yourself
✔️Whether your baby sleeps with you or in their own space, is up to you
✔️There is no such thing as right or wrong, just right or wrong for you and your family !
✔️Just because your mom or sister did things a certain way, it does not mean you have to
✔️Every baby is different, you may need to parent differently than what other think is the “right” way
✔️Know that everyone is not an expert even if they’re “done it and it worked for them”

Baby wearing practices from across the globe capture something we’ve largely lost sight of in the U.S., babies woven into the daily rhythm of life, held close, and included in community from the start.

Modern parenting here has been shaped by capitalism in ways we rarely name. We’re pushed to prioritize productivity, to put babies on strict schedules, to rush them toward long stretches of sleep, and to mold their needs around adult convenience. This has created a culture that often sees children as interruptions especially in spaces we’ve decided are “for adults only.”

But historically and cross-culturally, the norm has been the opposite. Babies have always expected closeness. Their biology and neurology are built around contact, responsiveness, and integration not isolation, training, or separation. Yet we continue asking infants to meet standards that have nothing to do with their developmental reality.

These photos remind us to question that disconnect. Why are we asking babies to behave in ways that contradict what their bodies and brains are built for?

And what would shift if we reoriented our expectations to match the needs of actual human babies, rather than the demands of productivity culture?

We’d love to hear your thoughts on how our culture shapes what we expect from babies and how it aligns (or doesn’t) with their biological reality. 💭

Me and my cousin are hoping for some help finding a family in need to give some love to this Thanksgiving 🦃❤️

💫Giving Tuesday💫

This Giving Tuesday, we want to give back to a local family who could use a little extra support. Whether they’re struggling to put food on the table or hoping to give their kids the Christmas they deserve, we want to help lift that weight.
We’re gifting $250 to a local family in need.
If you know someone who’s having a hard time this year, please send us a DM with:
Their name and contact info
Who they are to you
A brief description of what’s going on
Their story will remain completely confidential. Nothing will ever be shared publicly.
Please feel free to share this post so we can reach more families who may need a little extra love this season.
We are truly grateful this year and want to give back to the communities we live in, work in, and raise our families in.
With love,

After 47 years of serving our community and welcoming more than 16,000 babies, it is with very heavy hearts that we share that Lifecycle Wellness and Birth Center will be closing its doors in 2026.

From the beginning, Lifecycle Wellness has been dedicated to providing evidence-based, family-centered care that empowers clients to make informed choices and experience birth in a supportive, home-like environment. For decades, our team of Certified Nurse Midwives, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses and staff have worked to create a model of care that honors the natural process of birth while ensuring safety, compassion, and respect for every family we serve. It has been our privilege to support so many of your families through some of life’s most meaningful moments.

Growing challenges have made it increasingly difficult for small, independent, and non-profit maternal health providers to exist. Birth centers are uniquely designed to serve healthy, low-risk pregnancies, yet shifts in public health and rising rates of medical complications have reduced the number of families eligible for this model of care. At the same time, the cost of maintaining high-quality, personalized services has continued to climb, from staffing and training to facility upkeep and liability coverage, while insurance reimbursement rates have not kept pace.

In addition, Pennsylvania, like much of the U.S., has seen a steady increase in malpractice insurance premiums and legal pressures on maternal health providers. These financial and regulatory challenges have been difficult for even large health systems to manage, and have forced many independent and community-based centers to close or merge. Despite our best efforts to adapt our model through partnerships, operational efficiencies, and advocacy, these pressures have grown too great to sustain. In today’s healthcare environment, it has become increasingly difficult for small, independent providers to continue offering the kind of individualized care that has always defined Lifecycle Wellness. Postpartum wellness is crucial for a new mother’s physical, emotional, and mental health after childbirth. Support systems play a vital role in promoting recovery, reducing stress, and enhancing overall well-being during this period.

Postpartum wellness encompasses recovery from childbirth, hormonal adjustments, emotional balance, and adapting to new motherhood responsibilities. Challenges such as fatigue, mood swings, postpartum depression, and physical healing require attention and care.

Emotional support through listening, encouragement, and companionship. Practical help with household chores, cooking, and baby care. Providing respite to allow the mother time to rest and recover.
