📢 USMLE Service Transition Update

To create a more consistent and efficient process for examinees, the program is simplifying service functions in two phases.

1️⃣ On January 12, 2026, Step 1 and Step 2 CK services currently provided to IMGs by ECFMG, a division of Intealth, will transition to the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB). This change means that all USMLE services for IMGs, including exam registration, score report delivery, and customer service for all three Step exams, will be managed by FSMB.

2️⃣ On January 26, 2026, Step 3 services currently provided to graduates of U.S. medical schools by FSMB will transition to NBME. This change will centralize all examinee services for students and graduates of U.S. medical schools, including exam registration, score report delivery and customer service, with NBME.

Have you heard about NBME’s new initiative for medical student organizations?

Through our Medical Student Organization Assistance pilot program, eligible groups can receive up to $7,500 in funding to:

🔷 Empower student leadership through meaningful engagement and development opportunities
🔷 Advance impactful projects that foster growth, collaboration, and innovation
🔷 Celebrate organizational milestones (expanding membership, attending key conferences, or launching initiatives that strengthen your community)

If the organization is officially recognized by a medical school and focused on supporting medical students, you may be eligible.
