Our founder, Ihsan Hines, moderated the discussion, and as a community we explored the question: What is Love? In this safe space, the audience lent their voices as we learned from one another. Shared experiences and truth were healthy ingredients for a beautiful recipe.

Mo The Poet showed up for the very first What Is Love event in 2023, and she has continued to bless our audiences over the years. Mo's poetry is honest, and that's one of the things people appreciate most about her.

Ronald G. Waters shared a powerful and timely message about loving our neighbors. It’s clear how his perspective and practical approach to communication have helped him touch thousands of lives over decades of service.

Allana Joyner-Stephens brought a powerful and practical message to the What Is Love audience. The true chaos whisperer, she encouraged us to reflect on the relationship between our environments and our mental health. Her words were delivered with clarity and received with love.

Stephanie Skinner brought a beautiful and honest message about self-love to the audience at What Is Love. The newly crowned Miss Philadelphia spoke with heartfelt transparency, and the response has been incredible.

We all need gentle reminders to love the person in the mirror.

At just 14 years old, King Deen already stands over 6 feet tall. He’s a leader among his peers and already respected throughout the community. In his first-ever spoken word performance, his messages and stories transformed the room, leaving people in tears. Deen and so many like him are the fruit of what intention and opportunity can produce.

Two weeks ago, a standing-room-only audience joined us on Valentine’s Day to discuss how we move through love and how it moves through us. This immersive conversation was led by community leaders and artists alike, presenting on the topic of love. Namely, the stage was blessed by the talents of our featured poets, Mo The Poet and King Deen. We enjoyed a powerful conversation from our featured panelists, Jessica Hackett-Smith, Tyrique Glasgow, Qóura Jones, and Vernon Ray. The encouraging messages from Allana Joyner-Stephens, Ronald G. Waters, and Stephanie Skinner were such a blessing for all of us. Our host and MBKCares founder, Ihsan Hines, helped to curate a warm and loving experience. Thank you to our team of volunteers and partners in hope. Thank you to Balloons by Mumtazah and Tulia Day for the beautiful decorations. We appreciate the Walnut West Library for continuing to partner with us. And a special thank you to the community. You all continue to show up to support one another.

Tomorrow, we gather.

After weeks of highlighting each powerful voice, each panelist, poet, and leader — it’s time for us to come together in one room and ask the question that connects us all:

What is Love?

Join MBKCares and the Walnut West Library for our 4th Annual What is Love? community gathering on Saturday, February 14, 2026, from 1:00 PM–4:00 PM (doors open at 12:30 PM).

This afternoon will be filled with creativity, reflection, and honest dialogue about self-love, healing, community care, and social responsibility. Through spoken word, panel discussion, and shared experiences, we won’t be told what love is — we’ll explore it together.

Featuring:
Keynote Speaker: Stephanie Skinner
Spoken Word: Mo The Poet and King Deen
Panelists: Tyrique Glasgow, Jessica Hackett-Smith, Qóura Jones, and Vernon Ray
Featured Speakers: Allana Joyner-Stephens and Ronald G. Waters
Hosted by Ihsan Hines

Admission is free. Refreshments will be provided. Seating is limited.

If love has ever challenged you, healed you, stretched you, or saved you — this space is for you.

We’ll see you tomorrow.
