PEOPLE DON'T ALWAYS WANT A SOLUTION! Sometimes they just need to vent.

Next time your partner starts complaining about something, try just *being there for them* without problem solving.
*
You’ll be amazed at how differently this interaction will go from past experiences where you’ve tried to give advice or problem solve for them.
*
Put yourself in their shoes: next time YOU just need to vent, and inevitably someone tries to offer a solution (or even worse - criticizes you), take a minute & note how that feels. I bet it doesn’t feel good..
*
Remember these 3 words next time someone you love comes to you to vent: listen, acknowledge, validate!!! That’s it! ✨

I’m struggling with it - I find myself feeling a bit defiant, screaming “why not/says who!!??” inside my head - but also deep down I know it’s true

It’s Sunday, I’m sharing a porch swing with Franklin looking out onto I’m reading Nicholas Sparks (shut up.. it’s also why I love Hallmark movies - a carefree & idyllic escape), enjoying a rose water steamer from and about to take a dip in one of the loveliest lakes in the world

I needed this getaway badly, and I will miss it when I’m gone, so I’m soaking up every moment with the man I love and my fur baby

Bids show up in simple ways such as a smile, wink, reaching out a hand, or even asking for advice or help.

Bids are often nonverbal, cues such as:
Affectionate touching
Facial expressions
Playful touching
Vocalizing (a laugh, groan, sigh..)
