Public Comment and Personal experience MATTERS. Tell your story and educate our elected officials on how this option would effect your daily life. Those who make the rules to decide what is and is not of “Medical Necessity” need to hear from US, the ones with lived experience.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has just opened up a public comment period for seat elevation and says a comment period on standing devices will open at a later date. To submit comments directly to CMS by the September 14 deadline, click here: https://www.cms.gov/medicare-coverage-database/view/ncacal-tracking-sheet.aspx?ncaid=309
United Spinal and others have demanded that CMS allow wheelchair users to submit comments on both seat elevation and standing devices. United Spinal is a steering committee member of the ITEM Coalition.
