✨ Understanding Organizational Trauma ✨

I’ve been asked to lead a workshop on trauma, grief, and stress reduction within a faith-based community. While this specific session is private, it’s a powerful reminder of how trauma can affect individuals, teams, and entire communities—even when it’s not obvious.

“Organizational trauma isn’t always obvious… until you notice the signs.” 💡

Some ways it can show up include:

Increased stress or burnout

Conflict or miscommunication

Low morale or disengagement

Difficulty trusting leadership or peers

Our training programs are designed to help organizations and individuals:

Recognize trauma patterns in teams

Understand grief and personal loss

Learn mindfulness and stress reduction techniques

Build healthier, more resilient communities

While this event is private, our custom workshops are available online or in-person to support your team or organization. 💛

Healing starts with awareness—and awareness starts with noticing the signs.

Feeling overwhelmed? Try this 1-minute exercise: Pause. Recall a moment today that made you smile. Tell yourself that story, focusing on positive details. This grounds you in the present. Try it now. Your story is your healing.

Before your trauma breakthrough, these 7 things often show up right before:

1️⃣ Emotional exhaustion
You’re tired in a way rest doesn’t fix. This isn’t failure, it’s your nervous system preparing to release what it’s been holding.

2️⃣ Old patterns stop working
People pleasing, numbing, over functioning… suddenly they don’t soothe you anymore. That discomfort is a sign you’re outgrowing survival mode.

3️⃣ Increased sensitivity
Sounds feel louder. Emotions hit faster. This isn’t regression - it’s awareness returning to a system that had to shut down.

4️⃣ Grief without a clear story
You may feel sadness, anger, or loss without knowing exactly why. Often, this is the body finally feeling what it once had to suppress.

5️⃣ A desire to be alone
Not from isolation - but from discernment. Your system is learning what (and who) feels safe now.

6️⃣ Boundary discomfort
Saying no feels scary. Saying yes feels worse. This tension means your body is recalibrating its sense of safety and self-trust.

7️⃣ A quiet inner shift
Nothing looks different yet - but something feels different. Less panic. More pause. More choice.
This is where change actually begins.

✨ If you’re in this phase, you’re not “falling apart.”
You’re reorganizing.

Healing rarely looks like a straight line but this part?
It often comes right before the breakthrough.

🎄 This Christmas season, consider a different kind of gift 🎄

Not something wrapped in paper, but something that lasts far longer.

For many people, the holidays can bring up old memories, tender emotions, and unspoken stories. And while storytelling can be deeply healing, it’s only truly safe when it’s done with care, consent, and emotional awareness.

Healing storytelling is a specialized approach that centers:
✨ safety
✨ choice
✨ emotional regulation
✨ and respect for the nervous system

It’s about sharing at your own pace, without pressure, and without being pushed into reliving what your body isn’t ready to hold yet. No re-traumatizing. No forcing meaning. Just gentle, supported processing.

This season, the gift of healing might look like:
🤍 creating space instead of giving advice
🤍 listening without fixing
🤍 choosing support that honors your emotional well-being

If the holidays feel heavy, know this: healing doesn’t need to be rushed, and you don’t have to carry it alone.

✨ Giving yourself safety is a gift, too. ✨

✨ Big news I’m excited to share ✨

I am now CERTIFIED in the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) 🎧

SSP is a powerful, evidence-based sound therapy rooted in Polyvagal Theory, designed to help regulate the nervous system and gently shift the body out of fight, flight, or freeze and into a state of safety and connection.

Through specially filtered music (using a patented algorithm), SSP works by stimulating the vagus nerve, supporting the autonomic nervous system in calming, repatterning, and restoring balance — simply through listening.

I’ll now be offering SSP as part of my trauma therapy work, helping clients:
✨ build nervous system safety
✨ reduce overwhelm and hypervigilance
✨ support healing from trauma, anxiety, and chronic stress

✨ Now accepting new clients mid-January ✨
If your nervous system has been craving something gentler, this may be for you.

If you’ve ever held back in therapy because you were afraid of “reliving” your trauma, I want you to know this:

You will never be pushed into something your nervous system isn’t ready for.

Trauma work isn’t about re-experiencing the pain all over again — it’s about creating enough safety, support, and grounding that the past no longer has the same hold on you. You don’t have to tell the full story for healing to begin. You don’t have to have the right words. You don’t have to be “brave enough” to dive into the deep end.

We move at your pace. Your body leads. I follow.

And when you share even a small piece of your truth in a safe space, your nervous system learns something it didn’t get back then:

“This time, I’m supported.”

If this carousel met you where you are, you’re not alone.
✨ Save this for the days you feel scared to open up.
✨ Share it with someone who needs this reminder.

When you’re ready to begin this work gently, you can book a session through the link in my bio. You deserve healing that doesn’t hurt.

They weren’t lying when they said there comes a day where you just wake up and realize you’re done putting everyone else first.

It doesn’t happen suddenly, it happens after years of swallowing your feelings, keeping the peace, overthinking every move, and trying to be the version of yourself that makes life easier for everyone else.

Eventually the people-pleasing wears you down. The pressure to be liked fades. The exhaustion becomes too loud to ignore. And without any dramatic moment or breakdown, something inside you simply shifts. You’re ready to give yourself the care, energy, and honesty you’ve been giving away to everyone else.

Some people might call it burnout, but to you it feels more like clarity. It’s the moment you choose yourself without resentment or bitterness — just a calm knowing that your life finally needs to belong to you.

If you’re entering this chapter, I’m proud of you. Comment “ready” if this feels like where you’re at, and save this for the days you forget how far you’ve actually come.

Have you ever been in a good moment… and felt your body tighten instead of relax?

You’re laughing, celebrating, connecting —
and suddenly there’s a knot in your stomach, a voice in your head, or a feeling that something bad is about to happen.

That doesn’t mean you’re ungrateful.
It doesn’t mean you’re “ruining” a good thing.
It means your nervous system learned a long time ago that joy wasn’t always safe.

When happiness was followed by chaos, disappointment, withdrawal, or unpredictability, your body adapted.
It learned to brace.
To stay alert.
To protect you — even in moments that are supposed to feel soft.

And that pattern can show up years later, even when you’re finally safe.

The good news?
Your body can relearn joy, too.
Slowly. Gently. One small safe moment at a time.

If this post made you feel seen, you’re not alone — and you’re not “broken.”
✨ Save this for when good things feel scary.
✨ Comment “me” if this hit home.

And if you’re ready to explore these patterns with support, you can book a session through the link in my bio. Your joy doesn’t have to feel dangerous forever.

Leaving a toxic work environment doesn’t mean the harm disappears overnight - especially for BIPOC professionals who carried not just workloads, but microaggressions, tone policing, and the pressure to “prove” themselves daily.

If you’re months out and still feeling anxious, hyperaware, or doubting your own abilities… it’s not a setback. It’s your nervous system remembering you finally have space to breathe.

Most people need 3–12 months to feel regulated again, and 6–24 months to fully rebuild trust, confidence, and safety at work.
And if your experience involved racial trauma?
Healing can take longer and that’s valid.

🫶🏽 Save this for the days you question your progress.

Comment HEALING if this spoke to you and if you want to create CHANGE in your organization!
