Sara Weand, LPC

Sara Weand, LPC DBT Therapist in private practice specializing in borderline personality disorder & anxiety. You've often wondered if you're going crazy. People don't get it.

Your relationships are falling apart, you're anxious all the time, & your whole life has become an out-of-control, big f*cking mess. You don't understand why relationships have to be so hard and cause you so much pain. You realize that you've definitely acted like it. They don't get that when you've been hurt, your emotions literally take over, consuming you and everything you do. You don't get why you care so much. You're desperate for approval from others and yet you're so terrified that if they really knew what inside, they wouldn't want to be around you, or worse, wouldn't love you anymore. As a DBT therapist, I specialize in providing Dialectical Behavior Therapy to adults with Borderline Personality Disorder, who suffer from debilitating anxiety & panic, and who are stuck in their past trauma. When you work with me, I can help you get relief from your emotional suffering, keep relationships, and solve the problems in your life causing you so much pain. You are not doomed to be this way for the rest of your life. As a DBT therapist, I get it. I get that you're desperate to improve and yet despite trying really, really, hard, you remain miserable and in pain. There is hope. You can learn practical ways to effectively regulate your out-of-control emotions, deal with overwhelming anxiety, and manage those crazy-making relationships. If you're ready to get out of emotional hell and work with a DBT therapist who isn't silently judging you, reach out today. I offer free video consultations for DBT therapy. The holidays are here… but joy isn’t the only thing showing up.

If you’re living with BPD, this season can feel like an emotional minefield:
😣 Old wounds resurface
🥶 You shut down or lash out
😔 One moment spirals into “I ruined everything”

But here’s the truth — you’re not broken. And you’re not alone.

In my latest blog, I dive into why the holidays feel so intense for people with BPD — and how DBT can help you:
💡 Stay grounded when emotions surge
🛑 Respond without making things worse
❤️ Reconnect with what actually matters to you

Because one “bad” moment doesn’t erase everything good about you.

Self-harm is an intense coping strategy. This diagram shows why it’s crucial to look beyond the behavior (“what we see”) and address the deeper “unbearable circumstances” and emotional needs underneath.

My clients often find it extremely difficult to allow themselves to experience their painful emotions & then remain stuck in their suffering.

Even when emotions suck & are so debilitating, in order to get through them, we NEED to experience them; to respect them.
THAT is the way out of hell.

🍂 Struggling to feel grateful when everything feels heavy? 🍂

The world says “be thankful”… but what if you’re just trying to hold it together?

If you live with BPD, November’s gratitude pressure can stir up intense self-doubt:
😞 “Was I just being dramatic?”
😔 “Maybe it wasn’t that bad.”
😣 “I should feel grateful… so why don’t I?”

In my latest blog post, I share how DBT helps you:
🤝 Validate your emotional experience
🧠 Break free from black-and-white thinking
💛 Hold space for gratitude and pain

Because you can be thankful — and still hurting. You can survive — and still wish things had been different.

😶‍🌫️ Do you hide how you really feel? 😶‍🌫️

If you have borderline personality disorder (BPD), masking your emotions might feel second nature. You smile when you're breaking inside. You people-please. You become whoever others want you to be — because the real you might be “too much,” right?

But masking doesn't protect you. It disconnects you from your identity, invalidates your emotions, and deepens the shame and loneliness.

In my latest blog, I talk about:
🫣 Why masking is so common with BPD
🎭 The “chameleon effect” and how it plays out in relationships
🧠 How DBT helps you express your emotions — without fear or regret

You deserve to feel seen. Not just liked — understood.

📚 New school year, same ex? 😬

Running into a former hookup, fling, or full-on relationship can feel like an emotional ambush — especially when you have borderline personality disorder (BPD). Replaying texts. Analyzing every glance. Feeling the sting of rejection or the urge to rekindle something that didn’t work.

If this sounds familiar, you're not alone.

In my latest blog post, I break down:
❤️ Why seeing an ex can feel so intense with BPD
🌀 How relationship dysregulation can show up (hello, emotional whiplash)
🧠 How DBT can help you stay grounded, clear-headed, and in control

The truth? You can handle these moments with grace and self-respect. DBT shows you how.

✈️ Family vacation coming up — and you're already bracing for impact? ✈️

Trips with loved ones can be filled with laughter and memory-making… but if you’re living with borderline personality disorder (BPD), they can also bring emotional chaos. 😵‍💫

Unspoken expectations. Old family dynamics. Feeling misunderstood or on edge. It’s a lot.

In my latest blog post, I break down why family trips can be so emotionally triggering — and how DBT skills can help you stay grounded, present, and connected (without losing your cool).

Learn how to:
🌿 Set realistic expectations
🧠 Use mindfulness to stay present

💬 Communicate your needs clearly
