Shepherds Shelf has always been a grateful recipient of food donated during Scouting For Food. THIS YEAR, with the cuts in funding and the stop in SNAP benefits, we are even more dependent on this extremely important food drive to stock our shelves. If you are able, please participate and put those bags of food out for the Scouts. Shepherd’s Shelf and the people we serve are extremely thankful!
🌟 When the shelves go bare, community fills the gap.
📅 Flyer Drop-Off: Friday, November 8
🚚 Food Pick-Up: Friday, November 15
This November, the Scouts of the General Nash District are stepping up once again for our neighbors through the Scouting for Food Drive — but this year, the need is deeper than ever.
⸻
💔 The Reality
In Montgomery County, thousands of families — including many right here in the North Penn and Souderton school districts — are quietly struggling to put food on the table.
And now, with the federal government shutdown, families who rely on SNAP (food stamp) benefits will not receive them in November. That means many local parents will be forced to choose between feeding their children and keeping the lights on.
This is where we come in.
⸻
🥫 What to Give
When you receive a Scouting for Food flyer on November 8, please fill a bag with non-perishable items:
• Canned vegetables, fruits, tuna, or soup
• Peanut butter, pasta, rice, cereal, and boxed meals
• Baby food and formula
• Gluten-free and allergy-friendly foods
🧼 Families also desperately need essentials that SNAP benefits can’t buy, including:
• Toilet paper, tissues, and soap
• Toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant
• Feminine hygiene products
• Diapers and baby wipes
• Laundry detergent and cleaning supplies
• Pet food
⸻
👐 How It Works
1. Friday, November 8: Scouts will leave flyers and bags at your home.
2. Friday, November 15: Place your filled bag outside by 9:00 a.m., and our Scouts will collect it.
3. Donations go directly to local food pantries serving Montgomery County families.

💛 Why It Matters
Hunger doesn’t always look the way we think. It’s the single mom in the carpool line, the senior on a fixed income, the family whose hours were just cut.
When the safety nets fail, community becomes the lifeline.
Every can of soup, every bar of soap, every act of kindness tells a struggling neighbor: you’re not forgotten.
Let’s come together — Scout families, neighbors, and friends — to make sure no one in our community goes hungry this November.
🙏 Thank you for supporting Scouting for Food and for reminding our community what it means to care.
