According to Dr. Isha Gupta (neurologist), Dr. Murray Grossan (ENT-otolaryngologist) and many other experts, one’s level of happiness and the associated, such as smiling, have a direct influence over the body’s level of health and mental wellness. Science has shown that the mere act of smiling can lift your mood, lower stress, boost your immune system and possibly even prolong your life.
Simply smiling or laughing can cause a chemical reaction in the brain, releasing “happiness”hormones including dopamine and serotonin. Dopamine increases our feelings of happiness. Serotonin release is associated with reduced stress. Low levels of serotonin are associated with depression and aggression. Studies even show that depression can weaken your immune system, while happiness has shown to boost your body’s resistance.
So what does this mean? Happiness, laughter, and joy should simply become a part of your health regime. Whether you are sick, elderly or disabled you deserve to smile. A SMILE A DAY KEEPS THE DOCTOR AWAY!
