Let’s get REAL about anxiety for a moment.

If that familiar wave of worry, the racing thoughts, or those physical symptoms feel like a personal failing... I need you to know: it’s NOT a character flaw.

Truly. Your anxiety is a super-sensitive alarm system, always trying to protect you. It’s sending you vital messages, not critiques. And once you learn to decode them, everything can start to shift.

Here are 3 simple ways to start listening to what your anxiety is really trying to tell you:

1️⃣Ask: What’s the REAL fear? 🤔�Dig deeper. When you’re anxious about ‘X’, keep asking “And then what?” until you uncover the core fear beneath the surface (e.g., fear of inadequacy, rejection, loss). It’s often a deeper need that’s unmet.

2️⃣ Listen to Your Body 🧘‍♀️�Your physical symptoms (tight chest, clenched jaw, upset stomach) aren’t random. They’re direct signals! Your body might be saying, “I need rest,” “I need a boundary,” or “This is too much for me right now.” Honour these messages.

3️⃣ Identify the Missing Resource✨ �Finish this sentence: “I feel anxious because I don’t have enough _________.” Is it time? Support? Knowledge? Rest? Clarity? Your anxiety is pointing you directly to what you need to feel more secure and grounded.

You are NOT flawed; you are simply getting a message. Let’s learn to listen with compassion.

Anxiety doesn’t just live in your mind — it lives in your body first.
Especially in midlife, when hormones, stress, and emotional load hit differently. 💛

Here’s where anxiety commonly shows up in your body (and what it’s trying to say):

🧠 Head

– racing thoughts
– headaches
– pressure behind the eyes
Your mind is overloaded and begging for a slowdown.

💨 Chest

– tightness
– shallow breathing
– heart feels “loud”
Your body is stuck in fight-or-flight and searching for safety.

😬 Jaw

– clenching
– grinding
– tension
This is the “I’m holding too much in” anxiety.

🌀 Gut / Stomach

Anyone else noticing how our bodies start to change in our 40s?

Some days I catch my reflection and think, “Wow, when did that happen?” — and other days, I just feel grateful to still be here… moving, breathing, and doing life in this strong, beautiful body that’s carried me through so much.

I’m learning to stop fighting her and start thanking her — for healing, for strength, and for showing up even on the hard days.

We may not look like we did at 25, but we’ve earned this softness, this wisdom, this peace. This is what aging gracefully and body acceptance really look like.

There comes a point where replaying what happened just keeps reopening the same wound. I’ve learned that peace doesn’t come from fixing the past — it comes from releasing it.

I can’t change what’s already happened, but I can choose how I move forward.
And today, I’m choosing peace. 🕊️
