Let’s get REAL about anxiety for a moment.
If that familiar wave of worry, the racing thoughts, or those physical symptoms feel like a personal failing... I need you to know: it’s NOT a character flaw.
Truly. Your anxiety is a super-sensitive alarm system, always trying to protect you. It’s sending you vital messages, not critiques. And once you learn to decode them, everything can start to shift.
Here are 3 simple ways to start listening to what your anxiety is really trying to tell you:
1️⃣Ask: What’s the REAL fear? 🤔Dig deeper. When you’re anxious about ‘X’, keep asking “And then what?” until you uncover the core fear beneath the surface (e.g., fear of inadequacy, rejection, loss). It’s often a deeper need that’s unmet.
2️⃣ Listen to Your Body 🧘♀️Your physical symptoms (tight chest, clenched jaw, upset stomach) aren’t random. They’re direct signals! Your body might be saying, “I need rest,” “I need a boundary,” or “This is too much for me right now.” Honour these messages.
3️⃣ Identify the Missing Resource✨ Finish this sentence: “I feel anxious because I don’t have enough _________.” Is it time? Support? Knowledge? Rest? Clarity? Your anxiety is pointing you directly to what you need to feel more secure and grounded.
You are NOT flawed; you are simply getting a message. Let’s learn to listen with compassion.
