Have you heard about MTHFR? I'm going to just drop this here because I keep getting SOOOO many questions about it. The more we learn about it, the more we understand how it can impact so many processes in the body!
MTHFR (methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase) is an enzyme that plays a crucial role in the body's methylation processes, particularly in the conversion of homocysteine to methionine, an essential amino acid. Here's how MTHFR influences various processes in the body:
1. Folate Metabolism
MTHFR is essential for converting folate (vitamin B9) into its active form, 5-methyltetrahydrofolate, which is necessary for DNA synthesis and repair.
