Measles symptoms usually appear 7–12 days after exposure to the virus, but can take up to 21 days.

It often starts with a high fever, cough, runny nose, and red, watery eyes. About 3–5 days later, a rash develops and spreads from the face down the body.

If you have symptoms and think you may have been exposed, seek medical care. Please call ahead before arriving to help protect others.

A new measles exposure involving a non-county resident has been identified at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (Terminal 4).

If you were at Terminal 4 on January 29 between 4:00–8:30 p.m., you may have been exposed and should watch for symptoms through February 19, 2026.

Measles is highly contagious, but vaccination offers strong protection. If symptoms develop, stay home and call a healthcare provider before seeking care.
