Owner John Wolverton has over 15 years of experience, studied under luthiers at Nazareth Guitar Institute, Gruhn Guitars and C.F. I attended the Nazareth Guitar Institute (NGI) in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. Master luthiers Dale and Tyler Unger (American Archtop and Unger Instruments) have shared their knowledge of the art of lutherie with me. Additional knowledge was gained through classes taught by Tim Teel (Martin Guitar) and Greg Voros (Gruhns Guitar). Through my own experiences as well as the skills I have learned at NGI, I have let the beauty of what I love, be what I do.

Another Gibson broken headstock!
A customer brought me their very nice vintage Gibson 335. It had been blown over at an outdoor gig while on a guitar stand. The break was pretty clean but needed splines added for stability and reinforcement. A burst fade finish at the repair area, that matched the burst at the heel of the guitar, was done to hide the splines repair.
The customer was pleased with the repair and very grateful that their favorite guitar could be saved.
I currently have two other Gibson guitars with headstock breaks in the shop so, time to get to work!
Speaking of work, if you or anyone you know needs guitar or any other stringed instrument work done, or would like a custom guitar build, any modification to your guitar or a replica of your favorite guitar heros guitar, contact me,

Here are before and after pictures of a recent repair/restoration at Wolvertone Guitar Works
This is a 1967 Martin D-45 twelve-string guitar that belongs to a customer in Hattiesburg, MS. The guitar had a few issues; broken neck/headstock, two large cracks on the side/bottom of the body that had warped and the pickguard had "potato chipped" (curled up on the edges).
The neck/headstock were reattached and refinished, the cracks on the side/bottom were sealed and refinished, the pickguard was repaired (wanted to keep it all original) and the entire guitar was polished on the buffing wheel. The installation of new strings revealed that Martin Guitar sound, a well balanced and beautiful guitar sound. Bringing this twelve-string back to life was a satisfying restoration and the customer was more than pleased with the results.

This cool looking guitar, belonging to a customer from Hattiesburg, MS, was on the bench at Wolvertone Guitar Works this week.
It's a Hamer (USA) Scarab, not a widely popular model, but considered to be a "forgotten gem" of the 1980s to Hamer enthusiast and lovers of pointy guitars. The Hamer Scarab was a short-lived model (1984-1986), a unique model of the 1980s.
This one needed a set-up, as well as electronics work to correct a grounding issue.

A customer asked me to restore a 1953 Kay K141 Stratotone guitar that had belonged to their father; It was in pretty poor condition. It had been repainted, the tuner buttons had dry rotted off, the electronics were not working, etc. The restoration included replacing the tuner buttons on the original tuning machines, troubleshooting and cleaning the now operable electronics, replaced the strap buttons, recrown and polishing the frets, and refinishing to the original copper-burst color. Here are the before and after pics of the total restoration.
Happy Father's day to all the dads!

A customer brought Wolvertone Guitar Works their Martin Guitar 1997 Limited Edition CEO 1-R "CEO's Choice" guitar ( #140) with extensive damage. The headstock was broken off, the binding had pulled away from the body and in a few places the binding was actually broken, the heel cap was missing, it had two large cracks on the top as well as worn frets and the electronics did not work, it was truly a mess.
After much work, the guitar is playable again and looks and sounds great, a true rescue.
