Dr. Marlaina Nelson has practiced in Montgomery since 2019. After years of dedicated community service through brick-and-mortar veterinary clinics, she chased her dreams and launched this business to provide expert veterinary care for families in the comfort of their home and enhance her own ability to be involved in the community with her family. Mobile veterinary care complements traditional veterinary clinics by filling the need for personalized medical management for pets in your home while collaborating with local veterinary clinics to ensure your pet has the best life possible for as long as possible. PRMVS conducts wellness and sick patient examinations, puppy/kitten exams, vaccine administrations, preventative care needs, health certificates, microchip implantation, laboratory services, end-of-life and palliative care, quality-of-life assessments, in-home euthanasia, telehealth consultations, and more. We've partnered with local support veterinary clinics to conduct surgical procedures or other diagnostic testing that your pet may need. Dr. Nelson is available for appointments 3 days a week, typically Mon/Wed/Fri, during the initial phase of the business. As the business grows, she will see patients Monday through Friday. Call/text our business number at 334-746-4340 to request an appointment or through our website.

✨ Dental Anesthesia ✨

We know one of the biggest reasons pet parents feel nervous about dental cleanings is anesthesia—and that concern is completely valid. Your pet is family, and their safety is always our top priority.

That’s why every dental procedure is performed by trained, experienced staff and supported by advanced monitoring throughout the entire process. From start to finish, your pet’s heart rate, oxygen levels, blood pressure, and temperature are closely watched so we can respond immediately to even the smallest changes.

Before anesthesia, we carefully review your pet’s health and lab work to make sure it’s the safest plan possible. During the procedure, your pet is never left unattended—and after, we continue monitoring until they’re awake and comfortable.

Anesthesia allows us to perform a thorough, pain-free dental cleaning, protecting your pet from dental disease that can affect the heart, kidneys, and overall quality of life.

If you ever have questions or worries, please talk to us—we’re always happy to walk you through the process. Your trust means everything to us. 🐶🐱💙

Back to our regularly scheduled February Dental Talk! 🐾🦷

Let’s talk about the power of enzymatic cleaners 💪🪥
Enzymatic dental products work by breaking down plaque and bacteria at a microscopic level—helping slow tartar buildup, freshen breath, and support healthier gums between professional dental cleanings.

They’re an easy, at-home addition to your pet’s dental routine and can come in the form of:
• Toothpastes
• Water additives
• Gels
• Sprays

While nothing replaces a professional dental cleaning, enzymatic cleaners are an awesome daily helper in keeping those smiles healthier for longer 😁🐶🐱

February may be flying by, but dental health is important all year long—and we’re here to help every step of the way! 💙

🦷 Let’s talk dental X-rays! 🐾

Yesterday we mentioned that dental X-rays are a routine and essential part of every dental cleaning for cats and dogs—and here’s why they matter so much.

✨ Over 60% of dental disease lives below the gumline, where we can’t see it just by looking in the mouth. Dental X-rays allow us to evaluate the roots of the teeth, bone health, and catch issues like infections, fractures, or bone loss early—often before your pet shows any signs of pain.

📸 Without X-rays, serious problems can go completely unnoticed. With them, we’re able to provide better, safer, and more complete dental care, helping keep your pet comfortable and healthy long-term.

Healthy mouths = happier pets 💙

If you have questions about pet dentals or dental X-rays, we’re always happy to talk!

🦷 What Really Goes Into a Dental for Cats & Dogs? 🐶🐱

A pet dental is so much more than just “cleaning teeth.” Here’s what your furry family member gets during a professional dental procedure:

✨ Pre-anesthetic exam & bloodwork
This helps ensure your pet is healthy and safe for anesthesia.

😴 General anesthesia
Dental disease hides below the gumline, so anesthesia is necessary to allow a thorough, pain-free cleaning and full evaluation.

🦷 Full oral exam
Each tooth is checked for disease, fractures, infection, and gum health.

📸 Dental X-rays
Up to 60% of dental disease is under the gums where we can’t see it—X-rays help catch issues early.

🪥 Scaling & polishing
Plaque and tartar are removed above and below the gumline, then teeth are polished to help slow future buildup.

🩺 Extractions (if needed)
Painful or infected teeth are removed to keep your pet comfortable and healthy.

💊 Pain management & recovery care
Your pet is closely monitored and sent home with instructions to keep them comfortable.

Healthy teeth = a healthier pet 💕
Routine dentals can prevent pain, infection, and even heart, liver, or kidney issues.

Have questions about dentals or wondering if your pet is due? We’re happy to help! 🐾

🦷 Pet Dental Health Reminder! 🐶🐱
Did you know it’s recommended that pets receive a professional dental cleaning at least once a year? Just like us, plaque and tartar build up over time—and dental disease can lead to pain, infection, and other health issues if left untreated.

As pets age, or if they’re prone to dental disease, some benefit from cleanings every 6 months to keep their mouths healthy and comfortable.

✨ Fresh breath
✨ Healthier gums
✨ Happier, pain-free pets

If you’re not sure how often your pet should have a dental cleaning, we’re happy to help guide you. Preventive care makes a world of difference! 🐾🦷

🌟🐶 Pet of the Week 🐶🌟

Sweet Mohican, we initially saw this boy for arthritis issues. One day when we were checking up on him at his daycare they mentioned he had a change in color of his urine so we checked it thinking he would possibly have a UTI. What came next was nothing short of a miracle!

We collected blood and urine and took them back to the lab and noticed things were off so we called Mohican’s mom and got him setup for an abdominal ultrasound the next day. Ultrasound showed an enlarged spleen that needed to be surgically removed. The day of surgery this big boy gave us a shock! He had a splenic torsion which is typically fatal, his spleen had twisted in his body 3 TIMES! His spleen was removed and he is doing so well and living his best life 🥰😍

That one small concern led us down an important path — further diagnostics, an ultrasound, and ultimately a splenectomy. What started as a routine visit turned into a life-saving surgery.

This is such an important reminder that subtle changes can mean something more, and early intervention truly saves lives. We’re so grateful to be part of Mohican’s journey and incredibly proud of his amazing family for advocating for him every step of the way. 💙

Do you brush your dog’s teeth?

🅰️ Yes—regularly! 🪥
🅱️ Sometimes… when I remember 😅
🆘 Nope 😬

No judgment here—life gets busy! If brushing isn’t happening, dental treats and chews can help reduce plaque and tartar and support better oral health. 🐾 Call or text us today to find out more about treat or chew recommendations 🥰
