We had to save him before it was too late: Meet Newsom, a senior dog seeking a forever home 🥹
With resources and space dwindling in a municipal shelter, Newsom needed an escape plan. Senior dogs are often the last to be adopted, and the some of the first to be euthanized. We couldn’t let that happen.
Newsom🦴 had a check up with Pike Road Mobile Veterinary Services where he was sweet and tolerant and is now UTD on his current medical needs.
This 10 yr old boy is looking for a home to nap in 😴 He doesn’t know how to play with toys, he doesn’t chew his food, he is hard of hearing for low tones 👂🏼, his vision is changing (not blind but would benefit from glasses if he had that option), he’s got old man lumps, and he’s slow to get up in the morning 🌅
Newsom is by no means a puppy, but he was once somebody’s pet 🥺 Likely discarded for his age, he is loving and seeks out human touch. He is housebroken, crate trained, good on leash, indifferent to cats, great in the car (uses stairs like a pro), and he is good with dogs and visitors of all ages. Newsom would be best with dogs and humans that can respect his space as his vision can cause him to startle when things appear quickly near his face.
Newsom is now part of our Golden Paws Initative ✨ funded by The Grey Muzzle Organization! This means his adoption fee, pre-adoption vet visit, and annual core vaccines for the rest of his life will be paid for by us. We will also maintain an emergency fund for food and boarding assistance should his owner need it. We just need somewhere for him to rest his head for the rest of his days 🐶.
