Sorry that we haven't updated in a while. We've been super busy collecting and recycling. Our first collection drive at Largo Park was pretty successful! We got a few cash donations and everyone who walked by in the Trick-or-Treat line tossed their empty cans into our bin. We've been back to the recycling center twice since then. To date, we've collected a total of $81. Not bad...but the VA could definitely use more! Lauren's project is due next week, but we think this is such a great idea that we've decided to continue the project. We ask that you share our page! Help us get the message out there so that we can continue to support our heroes! Thank you to every one that has contributed!!

We took what we had collected so far in for recycling. We had a 35-gallon lawn bag and three 13-gallon trash bags full of *crushed* cans. We also had a bag of can tabs. All of that came out to $27.25. We have a lot more work to do to reach our goal!! Please help!!

My name is Lauren Hawthorne. I am in the Advanced Academics program at Madeira Beach Fundamental. One of the assignments that we have to do in this class is a community service project. For mine, I've decided to try to raise money for our local VA hospital at Bay Pines. My goal is to raise enough money to buy as many things as possible on the hospital's "Needs List". My plan for raising money is to collect empty aluminum cans to turn in for cash. This way, we’re helping the environment at the same time! I will be holding collection drives in order to gather the cans (stay tuned for dates/times/locations). Also, if required, we can schedule pick-ups.
