🐙✨ Octopus’s Garden:
A Birthday Tribute to Ringo Starr
Inspired by Ringo’s imagination and lyrics
🎂
85 years ago today, in a little corner of Liverpool,
a boy named Richard Starkey was born.
The world would come to know him as…
Ringo Starr. 🥁✨
He didn’t just keep the beat—
He gave The Beatles their swing, their soul, and their smile.
As a child, Ringo spent years in hospitals—
battling peritonitis and tuberculosis.
But out of that stillness came rhythm.
His first drum kit?
Biscuit tins… and a dream. 🍪🥁
By the early ’60s, he was drumming with Rory Storm and the Hurricanes
when fate—and a few sweaty nights in Hamburg
brought him into orbit with John, Paul, and George. 🌌
In 1962, he joined The Beatles.
And the Fab Four were finally complete. 🎤🎶
In 1968, Ringo took a break from the storm—
aboard a yacht in Sardinia, owned by Peter Sellers. 🎭🛥️
Now this is where it gets personal.
Sellers wasn’t just a comic legend—
he was one of my favorite actors.
The Pink Panther? Timeless. 🕵️♂️
Henry Mancini’s soundtrack? Pure magic. 🎷💗
While aboard, Ringo was served squid instead of fish and chips. 🦑
The captain told him:
“Octopuses collect shiny things to build gardens on the ocean floor.”
And just like that…
a song began to bloom. 🌊✨
A place of peace, far from fame, far from friction.
A sanctuary under the sea. 🐚
He imagined a place where he could be…
under the sea, in an octopus’s garden, in the shade. 🎶
Back in the studio, Ringo started writing.
But he only played guitar in one key—E. 😅
Enter George Harrison—my favorite Beatle. 💜
George helped shape the chords,
added his signature slide guitar,
and brought the song to life. 🎸
He later said:
“It’s only the second song Ringo wrote… and it’s lovely. So peaceful. Cosmic, even.” 🌌
“Octopus’s Garden” found its home on Abbey Road in 1969. 💿
Tucked between heartbreak and heaviness,
it offered a moment of childlike wonder.
Ringo even made the bubbles himself—
blowing through a straw into a glass of milk. 🥛🎧
Today, at 85, Ringo is still touring with his All-Starr Band. 🎤
Spreading joy, rhythm, and that signature peace sign. ✌️💥
The 2025 lineup includes:
🎸 Steve Lukather (Toto)
🎤 Colin Hay (Men at Work)
🎷 Warren Ham (Kansas)
🧑🎤 Hamish Stuart (Average White Band)
🥁 Gregg Bissonette
🎹 Buck Johnson (Aerosmith touring band)
A supergroup of legends—
led by the most joyful drummer in rock.
