The 5 and 9 of Swords coupled with the 6 of Cups and indicates a trapped, helpless feeling of betrayal that is tied to your past, meaning your inner child needs comforting. Not everyone is blessed with caring parents, which can leave you feeling abandoned, unworthy of love or success, which ultimately leads you to betraying yourself by not prioritizing your needs. The next time you doubt yourself or put yourself down, think of what you would have wanted an adult to say to you as a child. What advice would you give your younger self? What language would you use? Would it contain cynicism and criticism, or- as the Queen of Cups and the Empress advise- one of kindness and encouragement? If no one protected you as a child, it is your responsibility to nurture yourself now, and to be a soft place to land for any children in your life.

(Meant to post this yesterday)

No songs came to me. This time, what came was sorrow, but not just any kind- the gut-wrenching, cry until you vomit, guttural sobs kind. The ancient Gaels had a funeral tradition called "keening"- or "caoineadh" (crying)- that was a combination of wailing and singing. It was mostly abandoned by the mid-20th century, due to pressure from the church, deeming it a pagan ritual.

I'm not wholly sure the grief was entirely mine. As an empath, I pick up on all kinds of energy (sort of like a radio frequency.) Venus went retrograde into the emotional sign of Pisces today, so that may bring up all sorts of memories and emotions in many of us. Best to let it out.

So many of us were told how to be- what to think, who to love, how to worship, what to believe. So it begs the question, how much of who we are today as adults is truly who we are at our core? Do we really know our inner selves, or have we just been parroting what we've been taught to believe? The 2 of Swords advises us to balance our logical mind with our intuition, while the Hanged Man offers a chance to find enlightenment and connect with our higher selves.
