Our Story

Open Arms Health Care provides Licensed Residential services, In-home and Community Supports, Companion services, Chore services, and Respite services to Western Pennsylvania's Intellectually and Developmentally Disabled population.

OAHC was formed in response to a personal tragedy that the Johnson family faced. In 2008, a close family member was diagnosed with liver cancer. After choosing to forgo treatment, she was given months to live. Unable to find a service that the family trusted to monitor and work with the family member, the Johnsons would make a weekly, five and a half hour trip, to check-in and provide supervision. It was this experience that compelled the family to start Open Arms Health Care, LLC.

Since it was founded, OAHC’s employees have worked to provide the highest quality services, communicate clearly and frequently with its clients and staff members, and follow policies and procedures that represent the gold standard in the industry.
