This piece popped up in FB memories today. Great timing because just last week we made the shift from soil energy to water energy for the year. Idk why Feb 4 is the day every year, but so it is.
This year I'm in the 7 House, the house of creativity, Autumn, harvest, sunset, lake. Not so active, more like a rest from all the work. Enjoying some of the fruits of all the labor of previous years.
Which house are you in this year? And what's your relationship with the Horse like?
Goats and Horses are friends, so I'm optimistic. Like I'll have permission to take a break, unlike in an Ox year when I have to be super focused and extra disciplined. Horses are way more simpatico. Ox years are important, but I would have anxiety if it were Ox all the time.
Speaking of focus and discipline, someone asked me recently how long this stringed piece took, and now I know from FB it was an hour and a half just to string it. It took at least a couple hours to hammer in the 81 map pins exactly in the center of each square I drew. I'm more of an eyeball it type, but that was not an option here (or now). And before that, the pages of the New Yorker made the border and it got layers of paint.
So this was a full day. Over time. I don't keep time logs because I'm a Goat, not an Ox.
What I love most about this piece that illustrates time and space, one infinity, and its movement:
the way the planes present themselves in the pattern. They emerge. Dimension emerges from the movement. It's also very dynamic and active overall, but you can see where things slow down. Enter yin and yang. Endless conversations with this piece.
12 x 12", acrylic, map pins, cord, wood panel. 2022
It's hanging at Art on Main. Grab it (give your CC to Andrea first) so you have an amazing conversation piece about time and space. Or if you need a reminder about the order of the universe and constant change. It's there to support you as we spiral through time together. 🩷♥️🩷
