If you are an ATP treating pediatric clients, you may receive questions from families about the STAR Kids move on November 1. Here are some takeaways from this post:

If your company receives an approval between now and November 1 and the end authorization date is past November 1, TMHP will honor that approval if the delivery date is after November 1.

If you have a patient who travels anywhere in the state of Texas to a doctor or facility, those doctor's offices will still be allowed to treat your patient, as long as they enroll in the STAR Kids program in the patient's area. This is good news for many of the families that we serve!

We will continue posting information regarding STAR Kids and how we can help our patient's and their families make this transition as smoothly as possible!

Texas Medicaid clients moving to STAR Kids Nov. 1 will continue getting the long-term care services and supports they get now for six months or until their health plan completes a needs assessment. Additionally, they will continue getting the acute care services the get now, such as therapies, for six months, until the authorization expires, or until their health plan completes a needs assessment. If you have questions about STAR Kids, please email us at Managed_Care_Initiatives@hhsc.state.tx.us.
