What we digest not only nourishes our body but also balances our mind and spirit. This is why the strength of our digestion plays a key role in Ayurvedic Therapy.

By choosing the right foods or spices for our unique body constitution or imbalance (Vata, Pitta, Kapha), we can prevent illness, promote healing, and maintain optimal wellness. Ayurveda teaches us that food is not just sustenance; it’s a powerful tool for achieving harmony and vitality in our lives. 🧘‍♀️🍃

🕒 Utilize your body's biological clock! 🍽️ Eating your largest meal at noon aligns with Ayurveda's wisdom of over 5000 years and is now supported by modern science! 🌿💡

Circadian Rhythms matter! 🌅 Studies (2017 Nobel Prize in Physiology!) suggest that our bodies digest food most efficiently in the middle of the day, especially carbs! 🌞

According to Ayurveda, our 'Agni' (digestive fire) peaks around noon! 🔥 This aligns with our body's metabolic activity and enhances digestion! 🕛🍲

Maximize Energy Utilization! 💪 Eating your main meal at noon allows your body ample time to harness food's energy, aiding optimal energy levels and metabolism throughout the day! 🚀🍎

🌿 The 6 Tastes in Ayurveda 🌿
Welcome to Day 3 of 30 Days of Ayurveda.

Did you know that Ayurveda, the ancient science of life, emphasizes the importance of taste in maintaining overall health and well-being? According to Ayurvedic principles, there are six tastes known as "Shad rasa," each with its unique properties and effects on the body and mind.

👅 Sweet (Madhura): Provides nourishment, calms the mind, and enhances strength. Think fruits, grains, and dairy.

🍋Sour (Amla): Stimulates digestion, promotes circulation, and aids in cleansing. Citrus fruits, fermented foods fall into this category.

💧 Salty (Lavana): Balances water content in the body, improves absorption, and aids in electrolyte balance. Sea salt, seaweed are examples.

🌶️ Pungent (Katu): Aids in digestion, stimulates metabolism, and clears sinuses. Spices like chili peppers, ginger, and garlic belong here.

🍃 Bitter (Tikta): Detoxifies the body, purifies the blood, and aids in weight loss. Think leafy greens, turmeric, and bitter melon.

🫘 Astringent (Kashaya): Offers cooling properties, improves absorption, and creates a sense of balance. Foods like legumes, pomegranates, and green tea fall into this taste category.

By incorporating these six tastes into your diet, you can create harmony within your body, support digestion, and promote overall health. Remember, balance is key to achieving optimal well-being!

🌅 Embrace the Magic of Sunrise! 🌅

🌟 Rise and shine, welcome to Day 2 of 30 days of Ayurveda! Did you know that waking up before sunrise offers a treasure trove of benefits for your mind, body, and soul? 🌞 Here's why catching the sunrise can supercharge your day:

🌿 Harmonize with Nature: Align your body's circadian rhythm with the world around you. By syncing with the sunrise, you're embracing the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda and by viewing that contrast of low light wave lengths against the high wave length light we set up our internal clock for the entire day.

🌈 Mental Clarity & Serenity: Enhance your mood by diving into the peaceful ambiance of the morning. It's the perfect time to practice mindfulness, meditation, or simply enjoy a quiet moment of reflection for a clear and focused mind.

💪 Boost Your Productivity: Early mornings offer undisturbed time to set intentions, plan your day. Ayurveda suggests that waking up early allows individuals to make the most of the quieter and more serene morning hours, leading to increased productivity and a sense of accomplishment.

✨ Revitalize Your Energy: Ayurveda recognizes cycles to the day and just after sunrise begins the time of the day that is governed by Kapha, a slower more stagnant energy. For this reason we aim to wake just before sunrise to harness the energy of Vata, movement.

Most people are introduced to Ayurveda through the 3 Doshas or body types known as ones Prakruti. There are any number of quizzes on the internet to determine yours. The concepts behind these biological humors from an Ayurvedic perspective is quite complex and fascinating. But as an introduction let me just say that you can think of them as what modern medicine may refer to as Genetics. Ayurveda began over 5000 years ago and while genetics was not genetics at the time you can be certain that they still had a clear way of determining what a person’s physical appearance, personality, and tendencies toward health and disease might look like based on who, where and when they came into this lifetime. They determined that all persons can essentially be divided into one of 7 types. These 7 types are the 3 Main Doshas and any mix thereof. Its important to note that in the Ayurvedic understanding of Doshas all people contain a mix of all Doshas, just as all people contain the entire human genome. We just often express qualities and tendencies from certain aspects of that mix of Doshas just as we express certain qualities of that human genome. Its absolutely mind blowing to me that they were able to
create a system with such accuracy all these many years ago without any of the science and modern technology we have at our disposal today. For a more in-depth exploration into your type, a consultation with a qualified practitioner who can go through some of the more complex aspects of Prakruti and will be a much more accurate representation of your type. Qualified Practitioners are able to parse out your true nature from some of the deep-seated imbalances you may have acquired over time.
