This training conference offers 8 different training courses each taught by a different instructor. While it has focus towards church security teams, the courses are open to all who want to become more safe and secure.

Not all workouts are the same. Today’s was moving weights and bars and benches to make room to tear down a wall to make more room. The new wall still needs a coat of paint and the mirrors rehung, but there’s a lot more floor space now.

Today was our Active Shooter training event for church security teams. 41 church team members representing 10 different area churches attended the training.
They started learning how to prevent and resolve an Active Shooter situation as well as how involved dealing with the aftermath.
After lunch they got to do lice runs on going direct to threat. Each rep added in more complexity on having to think about follow on sustain situations like trauma medical care, developing a casualty collection point, and a reunification spot.

Another piece of gear is not always the best option.

Gear is just tools that you need to know how to use. Paraphrasing Jeff Cooper, me adding a guitar to my kit does not make me a musician. Not even the slightest bit. That holds true for any piece of equipment we add.
