I can’t let this month pass us by without acknowledging Occupational Therapy Month!

The heart, patience, creativity, and dedication our therapists bring to each child and family doesn’t go unnoticed.

Emily — helping kids build confidence
Michelle — celebrating every win (big or small)
McKenzie — supporting feeding + sensory growth in ways that feel safe and doable

We’re so lucky to have a team that shows up the way they do, day in and day out. 💕

Autism looks different in every child, and so does their relationship with food.

For many kids, feeding challenges are rooted in sensory processing, not behavior.

Understanding that changes how we support them.

At Little Snackers, we focus on creating a safe, pressure-free environment where kids can build confidence with food at their own pace.

Because progress doesn’t come from pressure, it comes from feeling understood.

What is ARFID?

Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) is a feeding diagnosis that goes beyond typical picky eating. Children with ARFID may have a very limited range of foods they feel safe eating, little interest in food, or strong fear or discomfort around trying new foods.

This isn’t about being stubborn, it’s often rooted in a child’s real experience. ARFID can develop after things like a choking incident, food allergies, significant sensory sensitivities, or simply a lack of trust around food and eating.

Support for ARFID focuses on helping children rebuild that trust in a gentle, positive way. Gradual exposure, sensory and play-based food exploration, and creating a safe environment (sometimes even something as simple as building a “food fort”) can help children feel more comfortable engaging with food.

At Little Snackers Therapies, we meet children where they are, using supportive, child-led strategies to make food feel less scary and more approachable over time.

Today we’re rocking our socks for a very special reason! 🧦

Every year on March 21, people around the world celebrate World Down Syndrome Day by wearing brightly colored, mismatched socks to raise awareness and spark conversations about Down syndrome. The date itself is symbolic because individuals with Down syndrome have three copies of their 21st chromosome (3/21).

So why socks? Because when scientists look at chromosomes under a microscope, their shape can resemble mismatched socks…making this simple, joyful gesture a powerful symbol of inclusion, celebration, and support.

Rocking your socks is an easy way to start meaningful conversations, show solidarity, and celebrate the unique strengths and abilities of individuals with Down syndrome.

Today (and every day), Little Snackers Therapies celebrates differences, promotes understanding, and supports a world where every child is seen, valued, and empowered to thrive! 💙💛

When kids start trying new foods, it’s exciting and it’s easy to jump right to the next goal.

But sometimes the most important thing we can do is pause and celebrate the progress that’s already happening.

Let your child enjoy the foods they’re exploring and feeling proud of. Confidence with food grows when kids have the time and space to truly enjoy their wins. 💜

Hearing how our work impacts families means the world to us. đź’—

We are so grateful to be part of Parker’s journey and proud of the incredible progress he continues to make. Supporting children and their families as they grow, learn, and thrive is exactly why Little Snackers Therapies exists!

At Little Snackers we are all about food wins, from little licks to big bites and everything before, after and in between. But we can’t keep sharing all the good without taking a closer look at some of the moments that get us there. With each new food we sometimes find ourselves face to face with a child’s frustration, rejection and clever strategies of avoidance. But our therapists are trained to shift that dynamic and bring joy, fun and playfulness to exploring new foods, turning that annoyance into excitement! Progress is not linear and you are not alone in juggling the ever changing emotions that your child brings to the table! Drop a “✋🏼” in the comment section if you can relate and let us help you balance the ups and downs of mealtime.

Rare doesn’t mean alone.

Progress may look different, but every step forward matters.

We are honored to walk alongside families navigating the unknown…advocating, problem-solving, celebrating small wins, and creating safe spaces around food.

Today we honor the strength of families navigating rare diagnoses and complex feeding challenges. đź’ś
