We define βFamilyβ as people who work together and take the responsibility for and care for one another by protecting, nurturing, supporting, and educating. The Mason County Anti-Drug Coalition is funded by a Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Block Grant of the WVDHHR Bureau of Behavioral Health. Prevention of drug use, including alcohol and drug use are centered around utilizing environmental strategies, social marketing and educational programs to address underage drinking and prescription drug misuse and abuse. The coalition is made up of volunteers in the community that represent health, law, education, community leaders, faith based centers, youth, parents, mental health and public health. The Mason County Anti-Drug Coalition meets monthly on the second Tuesday of each month at 4:00 pm at the Courthouse Annex Auditorium. Each meeting provides an educational component as well as planning for community events in the area of prevention.
