What Happens in the Body During Stress?
Stress is a natural response designed to help us handle challenges.
When the body detects stress, it activates systems like the sympathetic nervous system and releases hormones such as:
• cortisol
• epinephrine
• norepinephrine
These hormones increase heart rate, blood pressure, and alertness so the body can respond quickly.
While short-term stress can improve performance, chronic stress can affect sleep, immune function, digestion, and recovery.
Learning how to manage stress helps support long-term health.
