Lifeguard tryouts for the 2020 summer season have started! If you or anyone you know is interested in working with PVOR come by the lifeguard station at 5PM sharp any Tuesday or Thursday until February 13th. For more information please call the lifeguard station at (904) 273-7703.

The tryout consist of:
-550 yard swim in under 10 minutes
-25 yard swim underwater
-1/3 mile run in under 3 minutes

Successful completion of the tryout will earn you a spot in training which begins in March. Training lasts until early May and includes first responder medical training, CPR/AED and open water rescue from the United States Lifesaving Association.

This summer has been the most successful junior lifeguard camp to date! None of it would have been possible without the leadership and endless patience from our junior guard director Lauren (pictured on the right). During each week of camp the kids learn basic lifesaving and get to partake in some lifeguard workouts and drills as well as have fun at the beach.

The newest members of Ponte Vedra Ocean rescue. Congratulations to the rookie class of 2018 who finished their “gauntlet” workout today. I’d estimate that by the end of it they swam around 2 miles, ran 5 and did over 3 hours of calisthenics. The citizens of Ponte Vedra should feel very safe knowing they are being guarded by the best of the best.
