Friday in Nicaragua and the jungle continues to keep things interesting.
We woke up to our usual howler monkey alarm clock echoing through the trees, which is honestly a much cooler way to start the day than an iPhone notification. Coffee, ocean air, and another round of lectures at Costa Dolce.
The morning was focused on the business education portion of the retreat, which honestly got me fired up. We talked about where we’re going with our ideas and what’s possible when you actually commit to building something meaningful. I have a lot of thoughts brewing about the direction I want to take both my life and my business. Let’s just say…there are some pretty exciting ideas coming. Stay tuned.
Later we had a cacao ceremony, which ended up being one of those unexpectedly grounding moments. Sitting in a circle with the girls on this trip, slowing down enough to actually reflect on what we want to create in our lives helped me get really clear on the direction I want to move in and the kind of impact I want to make.
Then came the temazcal. I’ve done one before in Mexico, but this one was very different. Way more peaceful…but also WAY hotter. I’m pretty sure I sweat out every toxin I’ve accumulated since 2007. Before going in, I turned my phone off and gave myself space to just absorb the experience.
In the evening we attempted salsa dancing lessons, which started off as pure chaos. Everyone tripping over their own feet, bumping into each other, absolutely zero rhythm happening. But somehow by the end we were actually in semi-organized lines hitting the choreography like we knew what we were doing.
We wrapped the night with a bonfire on the beach, just hanging out, relaxing, and watching the waves roll in while hermit crabs wandered around the sand.
Somewhere between the howler monkeys in the morning, sweating through the temazcal, dancing badly, and ending the night under the stars…it hit me how cool it is to step outside of your normal life for a minute.
Also…for the record, the lack of hot water is starting to feel completely normal now.
What even is this week anymore.
