Echoes of Eden Doula Services Connecting to the emotional and physical needs of women during their child bearing year. Empowering women with information to support their desired birth.

Who doesn't need that extra support during pregnancy?! Here I am able to connect to women who desire to have a birth doula. A doula gives emotional, physical and spiritual support all through out her pregnancy, and birth, by providing different birthing options, techniques and over all support and encouragement. Doula's are the ambassador to the womans birthing needs, even in the case of an emergency. The doula will assist the woman to promote and express her own birth plan, giving her the empowerment to fulfill her own dreams through out her pregnancy and during the birth! I believe a lot of unnecessary interventions are done...that promote fear and unease about labor...truth be told..the body was created to create, carry and deliver a life! This experience is hard work yes...but can and should be a beautiful and glorious experience! I will help you in this journey to achieve the greatest birth experience you want, one on one! Message me for the details!

This, my sweet mama’s, is what it is all about! The purpose of my passion and the drive for a better way of viewing birth! There is so much more than just a healthy baby when it comes to birthing.

So this happened today!
Have you ever felt that everything in your life prepared you for this one moment?
As a Doula I have the most beautiful privilege of helping mothers believe in their own internal God-given strength and deliver our most prized possessions and that is our children. I had the fortunate Opportunity to work with a beautiful woman and an amazing family Missy Beth and Husband Scott. To me I find it imperative to grow a close relationship with a couple so they have me there is a constant steady source of strength in the midst of pregnancy and labor. Sometimes women are so stinking fast with labor that they catch us unaware—This is what has happened with Missy’s labor as it was a whopping 2 1/2 hours long. I had the most awesome privilege of helping Missy deliver Ryan earth side— yes I caught the baby! Scott and I Surrounded missy and believed in her every step of the way!! The midwife came soon after the delivery, getting caught in Memorial day traffic and helped with postpartum care!
You see, birth should be your greatest accomplishment, Not your biggest fear!

Isaiah 61

1The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,a
2to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,
3and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of joy
instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the Lord
for the display of his splendor.

As a doula, I have the priveledge of doing two of my favorite things- Serving Women in labor and Birth photography...this is a video I recently put together for one of my clients. You grow to love these women as family-It is such an honor to be apart of their journey of becoming a mother. With every birth experience... I see a glimpse of the power of a mother's heart and body! And I'm so honored and blessed that God chose me for this work.

After a tragic loss,I had the priveledge of being Angela Detterline Blanchard and Carlton Blanchards Birth Doula and Birth Photographer. Angela is one amazing and strong mother, wife and friend. I have seen this family pull together in the midst of tremendous sorrow and rejoice with tears as God granted them their Rainbow Baby.
Merci (Thank You) Faith Blanchard.
Welcome Home Sweet One!

“When we as a society begin to value mothers as the givers and supporters of life, then we will see social change in ways that matter.”
Ina May Gaskin

This is you, and I know what you see. You see a soft middle, a round belly. You see too wide hips and your favourite jeans that don't do up. You see messy hair and tired eyes.
This is you, and here's what I see. A woman who held the universe in her womb, told by society she should be ashamed of it. I see strength and power to hold that growing and changing body and I see a new woman has recently emerged, a Mother. I see a woman who will not bounce back or go back to what she once was. She is so different now in so many much more beautiful ways.
This is you, and I know what your baby sees. Your baby sees perfection, ecstasy, joy, life, peace, love. Your baby sees home. Your baby sees you.

🚫STOP! NUCHAL CORDS ARE NECKLACES, NOT NOOSES🚫

Ever been told your baby was in danger because of a nuchal cord(also referred to as umbilical cord around the neck)? Nuchal cords have become the perfect excuse. We fear nuchal cords now more than ever. We are told they are dangerous and problematic because its easier to lay blame with the mother and baby rather than the care provider and/or hospital. This has resulted in fear about nuchal cords. Common excuses we are given:

➖you need a cesarean because baby was found to have a nuchal cord during a routine ultrasound
➖you couldn’t push your baby out vaginally because the nuchal cord was “hanging the baby up”
➖your baby is in immediate danger from a nuchal cord
➖you’re lucky your baby survived a nuchal cord

What’s the evidence for nuchal cords?🤔 Are nuchal cords common?🤔 Should you worry?🤔

📌the umbilical cord is the life line that attaches the fetus to the placenta. it’s made up of three blood vessels: two smaller arteries which carry blood to the placenta and a larger vein which returns blood to the fetus. It can grow to be 60 cm long, allowing the baby enough cord to safely move around without causing damage to the cord or the placenta.
📌nuchal cords are very common. a third of all babies are born with their umbilical cord around their neck
📌the umbilical cord is coiled and covered in Whartons jelly(Whartons jelly is a gelatinous substance that is also found on your eyeballs). the jelly and coil protects the umbilical cord from stretch and compression. it is wonderfully built to be worn around the neck without problems.
📌research has found that a nuchal cord is not associated with morbidity or mortality for the baby during pregnancy. because a 3rd of all babies are with nuchal cords, babies who die are often found with a nuchal cord. care providers and hospitals are quick to blame fetal deaths on nuchal cords. families deserve to know the truth about their baby, even if it means admitting to care provider negligence and/or saying “we don’t know why your baby died”. only in very rare cases does a nuchal cord ever pose a risk to baby
📌there is absolutely no reason to undergo a cesarean if a nuchal cord is found during an ultrasound
📌your baby is not ‘held up’ by the cord at any time. during labor and pushing phase, your baby, placenta and cord are all moving down together. The uterus shrinks down during contractions, moving the baby downwards, along with their attached placenta and cord.
📌during a c section for “fetal distress” or “failure to progress during labor” more than likely your baby will have a cord around their neck(because again, nuchal cords happen a 3rd of the time), and your care provider will have you believe that the nuchal cord is all the blame. FALSE! Your care provider and hospital are covering their buns by blaming you and baby for their lack of patience.
📌the only time a cord can become very stretched and tight around the neck is at the end of labor when baby’s head is being born. being “choked” by the cord is not a real thing. your baby is NOT breathing oxygen through their neck/airway. baby receives oxygen through the cord. when a nuchal cord is wrapped tightly, the cord decreases the amount of oxygen and blood flow it sends to baby, but not completely stops working. these babies tend to have their cords cut before they are fully born and have a harder time transitioning and wind up needing more care and/or resuscitation due to the care provider cutting the cord very prematurely. but again, this will be blamed on the tight nuchal cord. these babies would recover quickly if the cord was left intact.
📌the worst thing you can do to a baby that has a tight nuchal cord is clamp and cut immediately
📌removing and/or loosening a nuchal cord right as baby’s head emerges increases the chances of snapping the cord on accident and causing excessive bleeding and harm to the baby. wait till baby is born to unwrap the cord.

A well written article on "The Aging Placenta" many of times women are told so often by western obstetrics- Our Placenta Expires therefore causing risk to the BABY....Lets take a read!

It is widely believed that during the relatively short duration of a normal pregnancy the placenta progressively ages and is, at term, on the verge of a decline into morphological and physiological senescence.1-3 This belief is based on the apparent convergence of clinical, structural, and functiona...

In the wonder and awe of the season, there are two things I am most passionate about. And of course I wanted to share them with you. This is the most realistic birth photo of the nativity scene I have ever seen. Every year I watch The Nativity Story, and every year I cry.... just like birth there is just something so pure that it just seems to Simply overwhelm you...combine the two...and Im caught up in the rapture of the power of that moment! The power if the woman...and the power of whom she is giving birth too. The moment is unparalleled and I wanted to share it with you!

“The human species is no more unsuited to give birth than any other of the 5000 species of mammals on the planet. The birth-giving woman is the central agent…

You know....the movements that get the baby in...are the same movements that get the baby out! How did you cope with labor? Did your body need to move or hunker down n stay still?!
