Hey all! I have not been on FB much, but considering how slow this year has been, I definitely need to spend more time here hyping my practice!!

I have openings for new patients. If you live in Oregon, especially in Portland, you can work with me! My philosophy is Health at Every Size (tm). My specialties, such as they are, are eating disorders, type 2 diabetes, POTS, MCAS, and hypermobility/EDS. I work really well with folks who might have anxiety around doctors too!

Such an important post. One major issue with malnutrition in adolescents is osteopenia and osteoporosis because of how much bone is built during this time. This is usually a concern with kids who have severe restrictive eating disorders, and bariatric surgery is a forced restrictive eating disorder. For the pediatricians out there, please push back on any suggestions that your patients should have their healthy stomachs amputated and their health compromised severely.

I saw the article in the LA Times Science Section, and then I saw red. The title was “More kids who are severely obese should have weight-loss surgery, pediatricians say” and the premis…

Shared this on my stories, but wanted to share here too for anyone who needs this message (i.e. everyone this time of year). - - [Image description: Black text on white background that reads: “New Year’s PSA: You don’t need to “cleanse,” “reset,” “reboot,” “get back on track,” or lose weight after the holidays. Those things are the province of & actively harm your well-being. A truly peaceful relationship with food is based on self-care, not self-control.”] - http://bit.ly/2Qohi8p

Quick update about me:
I am going to have to have spinal surgery in the next couple of weeks. I have already blocked off my schedule through November, but will now be unavailable until the beginning of the year. 😕 If you are a patient and need support, call Asha Integrative Wellness and the other ND there has offered to act as a substitute for me.

I hope to start 2020 with energy and renewed health. Walking unassisted will be a big help. 😉 Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to you all.

I love the way that Ragen put this. It is so important to be able to be flexible with food. Being incredibly inflexible about food and trying to always eat the "perfect" "healthy" way is the definition of orthorexia. If you like salad with dressing, pour it on and enjoy the salad!

This has come up in several conversations lately, so I thought it was a good time to update and repost this. Trigger warning: I’m going to write about food, and about diet culture messages ab…
