What a great day for a baby to be born! This mama had a TOLAC that turned into a successful VBAC the third time around, used nitrous oxide the whole time. Baby born via unmediated vaginal birth within 4 hours ❤️

The CDA Holiday Party was a great time. Thank you CDA for the delicious meal filled with connection and laughter. Excited for the new year! We ended the night with a gift exchange. I'm happy I left with the gift I wanted 😂 Happy Holidays Everyone!

Today Doulas of color gathered for the 3rd Annual "Doulasgiving" with BPI Sacred Roots Doulas and Lactation Program . We shared a delicious brunch meal, filled with laughter and connection and celebration. What a great event and I am always so grateful to work alongside these amazing Doulas. Thank you so much Sacred Roots for celebrating us today, and for all you do for the program.

NICU baby, born 6/26/2025 4lbs 11oz. Thriving and latching well. Went to visit him and mom this evening no more oxygen and almost off feeding tube. We worked on latch & positioning today, paced bottle feeding and different ways to burp smaller babies. Such a sweet and lovely family!

Two births in a row this week! I am so honored to walk this journey in life. The trust, comfort and compassion that I instill in my clients aids them into making informed decisions and autonomy back into their lives and birth experiences. Even if I brought nothing to the table, being there in the room as an echoing voice of encouragement and safety is what makes this job worth it. Thank you for trusting me in showing up for you and advocating for your autonomy. Baby A was born unmedicated and fast today at 7:11pm. Congratulations to mama and baby!

Hi 👋🏾! I thought this would be a great time to reintroduce myself. My name is Aleecia Hodges, I am the owner of Afroshelle Doula services LLC. I am a Full spectrum Doula, Birth Doula and Lactation Education Specialist from Portland, OR. I am a wife and mother to a 4 year old and 2 year old. I started my journey in Birth work in 2019 serving BIPOC families in the Portland metro. Over the years, I have also worked in early childhood education as a Montessori teacher & Nanny working with infant, toddlers and preschool aged children. Recently, I started Subbing in elementary classrooms and it has been so fulfilling. I have a love for Montessori philosophy, babies & kids, organic baby food, cooking, baking, going on hikes and coastal trips with my husband and two kiddos. What a blast it was at the 2024 ODA Doula Conference! I loved connecting & sharing in community with all the wonderful doulas and enjoyed all the topics from both days. Here are some of the black doulas representing Oregon and doing culturally and linguistic work to provide trauma informed care by being a safe and comfortable space for the communities of color that we serve in the birth world!

Wrapped up postpartum care with mama and baby this weekend who came 5 weeks early. When he was born, his placenta had holes in it and the umbilical cord was holding on by a thread! I was surprised when she called reporting her water broke in August when her due date was in October. Born at 4lbs, 11oz and now at 9lbs 7oz! Great job mama and baby G! Thank you for allowing me to take care of you both❤️
