I have a Master's Degree in Social Work, am a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, & am also an Ordained Non-Denominational Minister. Since 1986, I have been working professionally with clients on relationship issues, depression, shame, grief & loss, sexual abuse & other body and soul traumas. Although P.T.S.D. & trauma work have always been a primary focus of my practice, I also work with the natural life transitions, rites of passage, spiritual path, & developmental stages of women & men; straight, gay, bi-sexual & transgendered. I work with adult children from alcoholic & other trauma impacted families, adult survivors of sexual abuse, & individuals dealing with the compulsive behaviors that can result from growing up in a shame-bound family system. My Approach To Therapy

The Greek word "psyche" means "soul" & the Greek word "therapeia" means "attendant." Therefore, "soul attending" is actually what any form of counseling is meant to be. At the core of my practice is this sacred work of honoring, affirming, & attending to the uniqueness of each person; hearing their life story as a gift given in trust. The goal of soul-based therapy is not just relief from symptoms -- although this certainly does take place. When symptoms are viewed and appreciated as away of "getting our attention," the "symptoms" can then subside & allow the deeper issues needing exploration & healing to surface. "Talk Therapy" is one avenue that helps to identify patterns of thinking & behaving that have resulted in limited & unsatisfying ways of living. The thoughtful discovery of these patterns allows the shaping of new choices & decisions in attitude & action that empower & heal. I use dream work, active imagination, hypnotherapy, inner dialogue observation, journaling, & creative homework assignments to assist in releasing past trauma & grief while increasing compassion for self & others. Additionally, I assist clients in building a "map" of "soul symbols" -- a lexicon & personal symbolic "thesaurus" that provides a spiritual & practical structure of meaning & purpose on the Soul's continuing journey. This is accomplished through astrology, the Tarot, I-Ching, Sabian Symbols, & other sources of deep archetypal energy & esoteric wisdom. Sadness is not something you need to shift, cure, or transform.

At times the blue one will appear, the melancholy figure of the soul, not to be healed or subjected to some process of transcendence, but held and given space to reveal.

It comes with an offering and benediction that is unique to its place in the spectrum, the blue-place, which carries a unique fragrance and essence, a frequency of the wounded healer.

Sadness need not be operated upon so that it will yield or transform into something else, for it is complete and pure on its own.

There may be an important communication in the core of the sorrow – a special blessing not able to be transmitted in moments of peace and joy. A reminder of something lost, a region of your heart that misses and longs for you, a dispatch from the beloved that can only be decoded in the slow silence of aloneness.

Yes, it can burn there and can take us to dust. But the particles of that dust are made of the scintilla of light.

When turned toward and entered into, sadness reveals a blue-portal through which we can more deeply connect with ourselves, with others, and with nature… and with a world that has forgotten something holy about the wisdom of a broken heart.
