The Lampshade Ball is an annual benefit concert to raise funds for local non-profit animal charities.

105.9 The Brew along with their affiliate radio stations Z100, K103, Oldies 106.7, Wild 107.5, 1190KEX, and Fox Sports Radio 620 welcomes The Lampshade Ball, featuring live music from Radical Revolution (80's covers), Red Light Romeos (70's Yacht Rock) with special guests performers from tribute bands Appetite For Deception (GnR), Stone In Love (Journey), Steelhorse (Bon Jovi), Shoot to Thrill (AC/DC), and more to The Star Theater on Friday, May 31st. The radio stations will give listeners the chance to win event tickets with on-air mentions, text-to-win contests, and online promotions. On air talent Dan Boyzk of 105.9 The Brew will be the emcee for the event. All proceeds will benefit two non-profit charities: Fences For Fido, and the Feral Cat Coalition, who don’t receive as much attention and donations as other larger animal assistance organizations, but do important and necessary work in the community nonetheless. Fences For Fido eases the frustration and loneliness of dogs living a chained existence through volunteers building fences and dog houses for families at no cost: “Un-Chain one dog at a time.” The Feral Cat Coalition of Oregon provides spay and neutering services. In addition to surgery performed by licensed veterinarians, the cats receive basic medical care including vaccinations. This unique gala will continue the tradition of "Keeping Portland Weird" by asking all attendees, including staff and entertainers, to come wearing their most creative lampshades on their heads at this jubilant gala expected to draw over 800 people. Prizes will be awarded for the most original and creative lampshades. Also, there will be a raffle with prize baskets filled with products and services donated from various local businesses. One of the event's ancillary goals is to set world record for the most people wearing a lampshade on their heads at one huge gathering. How to make a Lampshade: If you choose to wear one go for it! It's not mandatory, just a fun theme idea to go with. There will be live music, prizes and a fun party vibe for a great cause!
Simply find one that fits your head, poke some holes in the sides and attach some shoe laces so that you can tie it under your chin so it doesn't move around or fall off, or attach it with a headband, glue it to a baseball hat etc. Decorate with your imagination...glue on some fun stuff or trim with some beads or something. Joann Fabrics has a great selection of fun stuff to decorate with. Best place to buy one is Goodwill, IKEA or Fred Meyer. The images/photos on the Facebook and Website show over a dozen different looks. I hope this helps you all.
