A handful of years ago, maybe 5?... I took a wreath making class. Highly recommend! This baby keeps on keeping on.

She's still going strong and works across seasons. Each year I can easily remove the fresh greens and plants and save the base for the following year. Then add the greens and fresh flora each year.

It's an awesome, low waste, biodegradable way to get in on the holiday decor.

I decided to leave the purple millet and black eucalyptus from Halloween and added evergreen and these cool red berry plants I picked up at whole foods. The extra made a cute winter arrangement for inside.

Happy holidays!

Happy Halloween! Keep those treats real 👻

The makings of a carribean rum cake or black cake.

This cake is WILD! It's got so much butter and eggs and sugar and booze.

It's the theme of the most recent book from book club: Black Cake. And the recipe is so interesting and complicated that i had to give it a go, but gluten free, of course.

I used the black cake recipe from Alica at AlicasPepperPot with the following mods and the royal icing from SeasonedSkilletBlog with the below changes

Cake mods:
- used coconut sugar for main sugar, used 1 lb minus the 4 tbsp needed for the browning sugar
- used reserved wine/rum from the soaking fruit to brown sugar
- only needed one third of the soaked fruit
- 1.5 cups almond flour, about 1/4 cup arrowroot and 3/4 cup coconut flour, tbsp rice flour (last three all mixed by eye ball in one cup)

Icing mods:
Used butterfly pea flower for color and no rose water flavorings

It's that magical time of year when all the healthy foods are celebrated!!!

Whether you're going hard into something like no sugar or whole 30 or just trying to eat more veggies

Good. For. You!!

Any effort towards getting more connected with our bodies and our health through nutrient dense food is an effort to be celebrated.

Today i thawed these cabbage rolls from the freezer and i think you'll like them

They're super versitile, and you can put any veggies you have on hand in. They are warm and hearty yet stuffed with hidden vegetables.

Plus they freeze well, which helps to be prepared with healthy options which is one of the largest challenges for busy people trying to eat healthier, myself included.

Picture 1 is the more traditional recipe geatured on my blog, but as always with a makeover of clean and healing ingredients

Number 2 is a quick and not so great snapshot of what i had today, which includes added beets inside for that rich pink broth. And coconut yogurt on top
