This is a heartbreaker for me…my friend Nicola is having surgery to remove some cancer tomorrow and I just feel so upset! There’s no one like Nicola. I saw her from a distance when I first moved to pdx and I was a bit shy to be introduced to her because I knew already that I thought she was just the coolest. And of course it was all true. What a dynamic and endless person! I literally don’t know how she does it. She’s a single mother of 3 and is a baddass hairdresser. She’s knows something about everything and really just something about anything that you’d ever want to know. She’s a healer. A business owner. A friend. She is beloved and she needs our help. If you can send a little help her way please do. The world needs some kindness right about now.

I’ve been wanting to cut a tiny doll bob lately and Whit is really up for anything so here it is! We’ve done so many shapes on her but I don’t think we’ve done a tiny box bob. I love it! I also made myself cut the bob length from front to back which I don’t always do but I mean to. I guess the salon momentum just keeps me in a routine way of operating sometimes so this was a fun change up. Razor cut and heat set with Cult and King Balm.

Here’s a look from the class I recently taught here in PDX
For this look I talked about my approach to this impactful face frame and soft baby bangs. I explored with the class when and how I like using the flat of the razor blade to create a light and diffused edge that feels soft and mobile. This shape was done entirely with a straight razor and hand styled with Jelly, and Vegan Balm from Cult & King. This one was a ton of fun! Thanks to my hair model, Kirstie for being a baby bang star ⭐️
