Bedside travel. 🦒 For this interior thrifting, I repurposed an old suitcase ($5) into a nightstand. The giraffe ($2) is an extension of my love for Africa and goes with the zebra canvas. Also, a nightstand doesn’t have to be as tall as the bed... which means you can stack your pile of books higher! 📖 ......

God is always communicating with us. The question is are we listening. Yesterday, I was thrifting at a local Goodwill outlet. It’s a warehouse style building with over a hundred bins of clothing, toys, books, home goods, etc. As I passed by a bin and looked over there it was on top of the pile... a brand new leather journal. My heart raced with excitement as I scooped it up and took this pic to document the moment. Why am I so excited?!! Because in 2008 I went on a mission trip to Cairo and I recorded the details of that life changing experience in THE EXACT SAME JOURNAL. I can only imagine what will fill the pages of this new replica 13 yrs later. Whatever it is, I’m listening God. 🖤......

Community is everything. Especially in recovery. I know a lot of us aren’t able to meet in person right now and that’s hard. Really hard if you’re like me and work from home and spend much of the day isolated and alone. I was skeptical of online support meetings at first. But to be honest, they’re not bad at all. I started going at the beginning of the year and I’ve gotten SO much out of them. I’m partial to the one hosted by my friend, Chris on Tuesday nights. His genuineness and gentle spirit are the perfect mix. It’s just one of many opportunities to connect during the week thanks to . Reach out. Connect. Be in community. You matter. Your story matters. 🖤🤍🖤......

You have no idea how sharing your story may impact someone listening. Until just recently, I thought I was the only one who thought about what I wouldn’t be able to survive without a drink or a pill. I had this list of unimaginables in my head. Then those things happened. I fractured my ankle hiking. I lost the job that brought us to Portland. People I love died. And yet I didn’t use. All I can say is that in those moments I did what I learned from you... the next right thing. Before the doctor even looked at my ankle I blurted out, “I’m an addict, do not give me anything for the pain!” When I got the call I never wanted, I cried and cried and cried some more. This recovery community is so important to me and I’m grateful for each and every one of you. 🖤🤍🖤🤍🖤......
