Saving Lives with the COVID-19 Vaccine in NJ Black & Caribbean Communities (An NJ Dept. of Health Virtual Town Hall Series) Thu, Feb 11, 2021 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM EST

Nearly a year into the pandemic, COVID-19 continues to circulate across our state and nation. Vaccination is a crucial component in battling the virus, especially in communities of color that have been disproportionately impacted. We recognize that there’s mistrust of and resistance to the COVID-19 vaccine across Black and Caribbean communities due to long-standing inequities in the healthcare system. As part of a virtual Town Hall series on the COVID-19 vaccine, the New Jersey Department of Health is hosting a free public conversation led by medical professionals from NJ’s Black and Caribbean communities who will address facts, fears, and myths. Kemi Alli, MD, CEO of Henry J. Austin Health Center in Trenton, will moderate the discussion, which will feature the following esteemed physicians:

• Dr. Chris T. Pernell, Chief Strategic Integration and Health Equity Officer at University Hospital in Newark, NJ

• Dr. Amesika Nyaku, Infectious Disease, Rutgers Health in Newark, NJ

• Dr. Harold LaRoche, NJ Chapter President of Haitian Physicians Abroad

*****REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED***** Please share your questions about the vaccines for the physicians to respond to during the virtual event.
