Staying on track with a good work- life balance (or how I’ve always preferred to say it, life-work balance) can be very challenging.

The days can easily blur together when work consumes nearly all of it. But even taking 15 minutes for a walk, to sit outside, or to do something else you enjoy is SO important. Few people will hold you accountable other than yourself. So make a promise that you’ll make room for some “me” time each day. The other things can wait.

Happy Valentine’s Day! I haven’t made Rice Krispies since I was a kid and figured today was a good day to make them! The whole process took less than 10 minutes.

If you’re still looking for a yummy treat to make today, all you need is the following:

• 2 Tbsp butter or butter substitute
• 1 bag of mini marshmallows
• 6 cups of puffed rice cereal
• M&Ms or another colorful topping of choice

Directions:
1. Melt 2 Tbsp of butter in a pot.
2. Add a WHOLE (😍) bag of marshmallows, and stir on low-medium heat until the marshmallows cook down to a marshmallow fluff.
3. Slowly mix in each cup of cereal, stirring so that the marshmallows are evenly distributed.
4. Scrape out the mixture into a greased dish and spread evenly.
5. If the mixture sticks to your spatula, get your hands slightly damp and use your fingers to level the top.
6. Add your toppings, then let cool on the counter or in the fridge!

I love making simple treats like these. It’s all about balance and enjoying foods that make us happy. ❤️ Hope you’re feeling loved this long weekend!

Bowl of oatmeal in ❤️ cookie form. I’ve been making versions of these breakfast cookies for 5+ years, and every time I switch things up a bit. My favorite thing about them is that it’s nearly impossible to go wrong with them and they’re super easy to make. This morning I thought it’d be fun to make them a little festive!

I never measure the ingredients since the only key thing is to have enough “wet” ingredients that they’ll stick together. Today’s ingredients included (very rough estimate):

• 2 ripe bananas
• 1/2 cup oats
• 3ish Tbsps of peanut butter
• 1 egg
• many dashes of cinnamon
• a few spoonfuls of cacao powder
• a couple of teaspoons of whole wheat flour
• a splash of vanilla extract
• a generous amount of raisins and chocolate chips

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
2. Mash the bananas in the bowl.
3. Add all of the other ingredients and fold together until everything is evenly mixed.
4. Use an ice cream scooper or big spoon to scoop batter.
5. With your hands, roll into a ball and form into a heart.
6. Bake for 10 minutes and let cool!
7. Enjoy! ❤️

They aren’t too overly sweet which I prefer, but you can always add a couple of tablespoons of maple syrup too.

Anyone else ❤️ waffles? Especially with 🍓🫐? This breakfast (also perfect for brunch, snack, or breakfast for dinner) was just what I needed the other day!

I love maple syrup, but also don’t always want to soak my waffles in sugar - especially since most packaged waffles already have a few added grams. So in comes my frozen berry trick.

👉🏼Add frozen berries (they provide more of a liquid/syrupy effect) and a splash of maple sugar to a bowl. Microwave for 1 minute, stir, then microwave for 30 more seconds. Depending on the amount of berries and the strength of your microwave, you may have to heat them for a bit longer.

Once the mixture is warm you can top your waffles (or pancakes) with this deliciously colorful mix. I usually spread some nut butter on my waffles before I top with the mix for some added protein and healthy fats. Then sprinkle with cinnamon and/or a dollop of plain greek yogurt for a final touch!

Growing up in California, I didn’t get to experience the snow much. Even though I’ve lived on the East coast for a long time now, I still feel like a little kid every time I wake up and it’s snowing - it never gets old!

My boyfriend and I found the best trail in the Adirondacks the other weekend. Keeping things different with exercise is key for me! Especially after playing a college sport and doing similar training day in and day out for 4 years.

Very grateful for the different activities the seasons bring ❄️. Any other snowshoe fans out there?

Did you know the importance of leucine for reaching your recovery and lean mass goals?

It’s recommended that we consume 0.7-3g of leucine after exercise to optimize muscle protein synthesis (MPS). If you aren’t training two or more times a day, targeting this amount in your post-exercise meal will do!

Swipe to see examples of leucine-containing foods and their amounts. I included a mix of both animal and plant protein foods. You can always mix and match the foods - and don’t forget to add some grains, fruits, and veggies to the mix!

💪🏼💪🏾💪🏿 One important thing to note is that you can’t gain muscle with protein alone - resistance training is a necessary part of the process!
